Awards will be sent to the top three finishers in each graduation decade (50's,60,s 70's, 80's, and so on).
Ha-Hatse Sachini, or “Prairie Warrior,” is a tribute to the 1680 Pueblo Revolt. In that year, the pueblos of New Mexico led by Pope, a San Juan Medicine man, took the Spanish rulers by storm. Pope devised an ingenious plan to signal the beginning of the revolt; runners from Taos were sent to each pueblo with identical knotted cords. Each knot on the cord represented a day; each morning a knot was untied, and when all the knots were gone, the revolt began. The Taos runners, in several days, ran to all pueblos in an attempt to take back their sacred land.
Registration is free however, any donations for registration will be directed to the Scott Family Scholarship Endowment. This endowment was established to strengthen ties between FVS and Native American communities whose children would benefit from the transformative education that Fountain Valley can provide.
