Charlie's Place


Gather your family and friends, including your furry friends—don't forget Fido! Grab your running (or walking) shoes and join us in supporting FOCP (Friends of Charlie's Place), the Clear Creek and Gilpin County Animal Shelter, and CCMRD Youth Programs. The exciting course takes you through both paved and dirt trails along the picturesque Clear Creek.

Don't miss the lively after-party featuring delicious smokin yards, TKB craft brews and cocktails, dog caricatures, dog costume contest, agility course, and pet-themed vendors to explore!

 A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit Friends of Charlie's Place (FOCP) and CCMRD Youth Programs.

Although the run is not officially timed, you can compare your times by joining our STRAVA CLUB. Additionally, enhance the impact of your participation by registering for Woof Trax and selecting Charlie's Place as the beneficiary shelter. (FYI: Track all your walks here to continually contribute to FOCP's funds.)

How long is the course?

The 5K is 3.1 miles.

The 1 Mile Fun Run is 1 mile long. 

How will I be timed?

This Race is not Timed

Please feel free to track your time on our Strava Group or on Wolf Trax App!

Where do I Park?

Parking will be at the old LDS church parking lot 445 W Dumont Rd., Dumont, CO 80436

This will also be the new race Starting Line area. 

DO NOT PARK AT CHARLIE'S PLACE - there will be no parking access due to the event. 

Are there bathrooms?

There will be 4 porta potties available on site for public use. 

What if I need help along the way?

Qualified emergency medical professionals are available to provide assistance at the start/finish lines. 

Can I participate in the event with my dog?

Yes this event welcomes well behaved dogs. All dogs MUST remain on a leash at all times while at the event. 

Can I participate with a stroller?

Stollers are fine, but please note, that it is a trail, and therefore strollers should be suitable for using on dirt.

Should I bring my own water?

Yes you can, but there will be water provided at the Start/Finish Line areas. 

Can I get my money returned?

We appreciate your race registration. We are unable to issue refunds. We are not in a position to credit your credit card or issue checks.

Will the race be held if it's raining?

The race is a "rain or shine" event - including if its snowing, windy, freezing cold, or boiling hot (got to anticipate that Colorado weather!). All participants are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather, such as in a rain coat, gloves, or hats. Umbrellas can pose a safety hazard to others, so please do not bring them.

What will be provided after the race?

An after party with vendors, BBQ from Smokin' Yards, and Beer and canned Cocktails will be in the finishers area after the event. So please feel free to stay and have some fun!!

Can I transfer my entry to someone else?

We have a strict NO TRANSFER policy.

Day Of Event Schedule:

8:30am - Packet Pick up and Registration opens

9am - Dog Costume Contest Starts (be sure to get signed up!)

10am - 5k & 1 mile fun run/walk starts together (untimed)

10:30am - Post race festivities begin featuring - Don't miss the lively after-party featuring delicious Smokin Yards, TKB craft brews and cocktails, dog caricatures, dog costume contest, agility course, and pet-themed vendors to explore!

11:30am - Announcement of Dog Contest Winners!
