Charlie's Place is a modern, county owned and managed animal shelter serving the residents of Clear Creek and Gilpin Counties in Colorado. The shelter provides nourishment and a safe environment for abandoned, homeless, stray, and impounded dogs and cats. We offer dog and cat adoptions, microchipping, spay/neuter vouchers, humane trap loans, and monthly low-cost vaccination clinics.
Friends of Charlie's Place (FOCP) is a 501c3 nonprofit that is designed to help support the Clear Creek/Gilpin Co. Animal Shelter, especially for the non-routine medical care of shelter animals. Some of the goals the shelter has for the group include:
- Participate in adoption events.
- Participate in fundraising events.
- Provide out-of-shelter rehabilitation and training of dogs with serious but correctible behavior issues.
- Write grant proposals and organize fundraisers to build funds, especially for medical and spay/neuter expenses.
Our mission is to partner with the Clear Creek/Gilpin Animal Shelter (Charlie’s Place) to support the needs of the animals at the shelter, to assist in placing the animals into appropriate permanent homes, and to prevent and alleviate the suffering of the animals within our community.
