Run out the old year, and welcome the new! One of Fort Collins’ oldest races, the Resolution Run, is back for its 42nd year!

Get a head start on your New Year's Resolution by enjoying a family-friendly, neighborhood streets 5K starting & finishing at Edora Pool Ice Center (EPIC).

  • Kids, strollers, dogs & walkers welcome!
  • Finish in under 20:26 to earn a special prize!
  • The race is held after sunset – we’ll provide glow sticks by the bucket, and everyone is encouraged to show off their bright clothes and lights!

Entry fees include:

  • Gender-specific long-sleeve t-shirt (register by December 20th to guarantee a shirt)
  • Finisher momento
  • Glow sticks
  • Got chocolate
  • A great time!

*THIS IS A RULES OF THE ROAD RUN*. Per our permit requirements, runners must obey all traffic laws and yield to traffic if encountered (this includes vehicles backing out of driveways). That being said, the race is held on low traffic residential streets, and the odds of encountering a vehicle on course are low.

Want to help out? We’re looking for course marshals, hot cocoa slingers, packet pickup, awards & more! Sign up here!

Online registration closes at 11:59pm December 30.  If the race has not sold out, all race-day registration will be on-site at packet pickup.

We hope to secure open skate time in EPIC, as usual, as well. This will be updated as soon as confirmation is obtained. If available, you can bring your own skates or rent them on-site for $3. Open skate from at least 6:00pm-7:30pm.

Registration

Registration is OPEN online for 2025. All race-day registration will be on-site at Packet Pickup

Shirt guarantee deadline is Friday, December 20. We’ll order plenty of extras, but can’t guarantee to have your size if you register after that date.

The race is capped at 500 participants.

Registration is $25 through Christmas Day, with a bump up to $30 for online registration in the week leading up.

All coupons, deals and family pack pricing expire with the close of online registration on December 30th. Race day registration will be available for $35/person during packet pickup if the race has not sold out.

Registering the family? Look for the “Multi-Person Pricing” box just above the Waiver on the first page of our registration form. Families of 4+ from the same household can register for $80. You must register together at the same time; no later add-ons.

Registered but can’t make it this year? Deferrals and transfers are allowed, free, and self-serve (with a Dec 30 deadline):

  1. Log in to your RunSignup account
  2. Go to Profile, Upcoming Races, Resolution Run 5K, Manage Registration
  3. At the bottom of the page, select “Transfer to Another Runner” or “Defer Registration”, and follow the automated process.

Entries are non-refundable. In the event the race is cancelled due to extreme weather, disease or other events outside of the race’s control, we cannot offer refunds, but will do our best to offer at least partial credit toward future races.

For entrants with disabilities that require a guide runner, we are more than happy to offer a free entry for their guide. Please email Race Director Brad Bishop to get that set up.

Location & Parking

Edora Pool Ice Center (EPIC), 1801 Riverside Ave, is our host venue, with parking in their facility lot.

Running @ Night
From active.com:
Be Visible: While most of us try to blend in, night runners can’t afford to. Loud colors with reflective material to catch passing headlights is a must. Add on a few flashing strobe lights (red for your back, white for your front) and you’ll be spotted sure.

Reflective Vest: Preferably a mid-weight version, this full zip vest will make sure you are seen and help to keep your core warm. The zipper means you can adjust your internal temp, a very nice feature in the event you do get warm.

Headlamp: Not required, but a really nice to have item. It will cut through the darkness, allowing you to pick the safest path. It also helps with the visibility issue. Newer models are light weight enough to clip on to your hat or visor without much weight.

Flashing Light: Similar to what bicycle commuters use, these simple lights are a cheap and effective way to make your presence known. Remember to keep the red flashing lights on your back and the white/clear ones on the front of your body. This will help drivers and fellow pedestrians know which way you are headed long before they can actually see you.

What Not To Bring: Your Headphones. You might be the next Yo-Yo-Ma, but running at night without the help of your ears dramatically increases your chances of injury or mishap. Save the music for your commute or the odd times you can get out in the daylight.

Weather
Weather on December 31 in Fort Collins can vary greatly. The averages for December are a high of 42F and a low of 17F degrees. Dress warmly.

Staying on Course
Racers need to stay on the permitted course. Runners who shortcut will not be eligible for awards.

Unforeseeable Circumstances
In the case of unforeseeable circumstances due to weather or other extenuating circumstances that prevents the safe continuation of the race, race officials may end the race at any given time. This rule will be implemented in the most extreme cases for the safety of the runners or officials.

Local Laws
Federal, State, and County laws and ordinances must be followed at all times.
