Race Description
Run point-to-point over the final 31 miles of the 50-mile route. With significantly less climbing and descending than the first 19 miles of the 50 mile route, the 50 km is more friendly for first-time ultra runners and a logical step up from the marathon.
Packet Pickup & Race Start
05:30 AM - Same-day packet pickup starts @ FLCC Ewing Atrium (3325 Marvin Sands Dr, Canandaigua)
- Get your bib and your shirt
- Put any drop bags in bins labeled with aid station names
09:00 AM - Shuttle leaves from the finish area
Do not leave anything on the shuttle. We will have a bin for bags to take back to the finish if you have items you want to leave behind such as warm clothing. Make sure your bag is labeled with your name and bib number.
09:30 AM - All racers should be at the finish area. Earlier is better to limit congestion from other 50 km racers, the 50 mile racers, relay racers, and crew.
09:50 AM - Racers should be at the start line for last-minute instructions
10:00 AM - 50 km start
Course
We've made some tweaks to the course that has been used in recent years. For those familar with the prior course, here is a summary of the main changes:
- Taking the highly-scenic County Road 12 rather than State Route 21 to get into Naples. Nice downhill start to the race.
- No out-and-back down Sunnyside Rd.
- After Bare Hill the course will go down to the lake rather than turning away from the lake.
- We'll continue a bit further down County Road 18 to get back into FLCC rather than using the steep grassy section.
Aid Stations
- There will be 6 Full Aid Stations along the course and 1 Water Stop (WS).
- All stations will offer water, lemon-lime Skratch Labs Hydration, soda, and a selection of Gu Energy gels.
- Full Aid Stations will also have a selection of food that will vary by location. This will include fruit, cookies, salty snacks, and candy. Items like quesadillas and warm broth will become available at later stations.
- Full Aid Stations will have a restroom or porta-potty, the Water Stops will not.
- Due to space constraints, crew is not allowed to stop at Water Stops. Crew is allowed at any of the Full Aid Stations, but are encouraged to not stop at Lehigh Valley due to traffic and more limited space.

Time Limits
The only time limit that will be enforced is the 7:30 PM cutoff at the finish. Prior to that point it is the athlete's responsibility to determine if they are on pace. The 50 km has 9.5 hours to complete the course, or averaging 18:19 minute miles. As a guide, these are the rough times that an athlete should be leaving each aid station if they are running a consistent pace. Anyone entering an aid station after these times risks not making the cutoff and may be pulled from the race.
| Aid Station | Name | Miles from start | Time |
| 6 | Middlesex | 12.2 | 1:45 PM |
| 7 | Vine Valley | 16.2 | 3:00 PM |
| 8 | Scenic View | 19.4 | 4:00 PM |
| 9 | Run Deep | 25.2 | 5:45 PM |
| Finish | 30.8 | 7:30 PM |
Drop Bags
Athletes have the option to provide their own drop bags at check-in that will be transported to some aid stations.
- Drop bags should be clearly labeled with athlete name, bib number, and aid station number/name.
- Should have reflective gear in AS 8 Scenic View Drop Bag if expecting to be on the road past 6:30 PM. All runners and their pacers are required to wear reflective gear after 6:30 PM.
- Drop bags will be returned to the finish as aid stations close. Depending on the needs of the racers, it may take time to return to the finish, so athletes should not expect drop bags back until 7:30 PM.
Rules of the Road
All athletes must follow these basic rules of the road or face possible disqualification:
- Use the sidewalk if one is available.
- If a sidewalk is not available, use the left shoulder facing traffic. No roads are closed for the race.
- Yield to all traffic even if you have the right of way. Vehicles are big and solid; runners are small and squishy.
- Be considerate of any other pedestrians. The sidewalks and shoulders are not closed for the race, so we'll be sharing.
- Follow instructions of any police or road marshals, particularly at road crossings.
- All runners and pacers on roads before sunrise or after sunset are required to wear high visibility garments such as reflective running vests or reflective running clothing. This applies to anyone who expects to be on the road past 6:30PM. Unlike previous years, the race shirt is not reflective, so all runners should bring their own gear.
Pacers & Crew
Pacers are allowed starting at AS 7 Vine Valley. Pacers must follow race rules including:
- Register and sign a waiver, either online or in-person at check-in.
- Provide their own transportation to Vine Valley.
- Follow the rules of the road by always running in the left hand shoulder facing traffic and following any directions of marshals and officials.
- Pacers can not "mule", by carrying food, water, or gear for their runner.
Crew, family, and friends are all welcome. However, to keep everyone safe, athletes should make their crew aware of all race rules. Failure to follow these rules could result in the disqualification of their athlete.
- Do not drive or cycle alongside the runners.
- Do not park on the shoulders of State Route 21, State Route 245, or Middle Rd. Do not park along roads within 100 yards of aid stations. The Athlete Handbook has more information on where crew can safely park.
- Crew can provide aid at any point along the course, but are strongly encouraged to do so at the established aid stations. If providing aid outside an aid station, crew must be parked in a safe area that does not block traffic or the race course.
