Chester County Turkey Trot

November 27, 2025 Downingtown, PA 19335 US

Race History

The Chester County Turkey Trot (CCTT) started as a small fundraiser for the Downingtown West Cross County team. The race was originally held on Thanksgiving morning of XXXX in the parking lot of what is now the Downingtown Wegmans as well as the Downingtown Country Club. In XXXX, the race moved into the Downingtown Borough.

In November 2011, fellow Downingtown runner, Cameron Evans, was diagnosed at age 13 with childhood leukemia and on May 29, 2012, he crossed his final finish line. Following his passing, Cameron's family and friends started the Cure4Cam Childhood Cancer Foundation and the DWest XC team made the decision to help support childhood cancer research through this organization in memory of their friend and teammate.

The Chester County Turkey Trot has become a great tradition among local families and out-of-towners alike, with representation from states all over the U.S. as well as some international participants. Quickly growing to a 3000 person race, the course ran through the Downingtown Borough until 2019, then after COVID shutdowns returned as an on-campus event to the Downingtown Middle School, Downingtown West High School, and Downingtown STEM Academy campuses. The technology of chip timing started with the 2013 race. As of the 2024 race, through sponsorships, donations, and a generous portion of the proceeds shared by the team, the CCTT has raised over $698,000 for childhood cancer research!

And, with your help, history continues to be in the making.....
