Access:

  • Access to NASA Glenn Research Center for the Space Race is limited to participants only. You must be a U.S. Citizen to participate. Spectators are not allowed.
  • Participants will enter the center through a designated, pedestrian security checkpoint at the Ohio Aerospace Institute located at 22800 Cedar Point Road. Please follow participant instructions for parking near the security checkpoint. Participant vehicles will not have access to the center.
  • Racers attempting to enter the center through the main gate off Brookpark Road, or the west gate off Cedar Point Road will be denied access. Racers must enter through the designated, pedestrian security checkpoint established at the Ohio Aerospace Institute.  
  • Handheld metal detectors will be utilized to prevent the unauthorized entry of weapons into the facility.
  • Participants will be issued a wristband after screening.   

 

Bag & Stroller Policy:

Small personal bags up to 4.5″ × 6.5″ in size, with or without a handle or strap, are allowed at NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) for this event. Any bag that meets this size limit, regardless of style (including fanny packs or cross‑body bags), may be brought on-site after inspection. Exceptions: Strollers, diaper bags, nursing bags, and medical bags are permitted following proper inspection. Strollers and diaper bags must be accompanied by a child of appropriate age.

 

Prohibited Items:

Items prohibited at NASA Glenn Research Center include any item prohibited by any applicable federal, state, local and tribal law and/or ordinance; as well as firearms, dangerous weapons, explosives or other destructive devices (including their individual parts or components) designed, redesigned, used, intended for use or readily converted to cause injury, death or property damage. This list applies to all facility occupants, contractors, and the visiting public. 

 

Under federal law, 18 United States Code Section 930, it is illegal to have a firearm in a building or part of a building owned or leased by the federal government where federal employees are regularly present to perform their duties. Therefore, Concealed Carry permits cannot be honored.

 

Illegal drugs, including marijuana (even for medical use), are strictly prohibited, regardless of state laws.

Animals:
Service animals are welcome at NASA. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act, a service animal is defined as a dog that has been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability.  The task(s) performed by the dog must be directly related to the person’s disability. Non-service animals are prohibited from being brought on to NASA Glenn property for anything other than official purposes.
