"Welcome, trail runners! It’s time to gear up for one of the region’s legendary races—Crooked Creek Trail Weekend! Whether you’re an ultra-veteran or new to the trails, this weekend has something for everyone, and we’re here to guide you through all the details.
The Ultimate Trail Experience
Camp Crooked Creek, known for its challenging and scenic ultra-trail, is hosting a full lineup of events on Saturday, December 7th, and Sunday, December 8th. From the grueling 100-mile and 50-mile ultras to the marathon, half-marathon, and Crooked Creek 5K Challenge, there’s an event for every type of runner.
The Crooked Creek 5K Challenge
Let’s talk about the 5K Challenge, happening both Saturday and Sunday at 8 AM. This isn’t your typical 5K—it’s a trail adventure that allows you to sample just a part of the full Crooked Creek Course experience! Wind through over 1,000 acres of rolling hills, past towering oaks and hickories, and around the stunning John Barr Lake, right in the heart of the race village.
This exclusive trail is only open for this event, so you’ll join an elite group of runners who can say they’ve conquered it. And, if you’re lucky, you might even catch a whiff of bourbon mash from a nearby distillery while tackling those scenic climbs!
Registration: Just $15 per runner
T-Shirts: Add one for $10 by November 22nd
Awards: Top Male and Female Finishers take home awards, and every runner gets a custom Crooked Creek 5K medal!
Packet Pickup
Friday, December 6th: From 4–8 PM at the Camp Crooked Creek Dining Hall.
Race Day Pickup: Starting at 7 AM for all events.
Dynamic bib assignment makes pickup quick and easy, and we’ll even have a photobooth available so you can take a picture of you with your bib—perfect for showing off on social media! Plus friends and family who join you can hop in for a pic too.
Parking and Amenities
Regular parking is available in the gravel lot near the dining hall for 5K, marathon, and half-marathon participants.
The lower parking area is reserved for our Ultra runners who will be running the 50 or 100 mile events.
Bathrooms, showers, and a cozy fire pit will be available near the start/finish line.
Course and Trail Info
The trail weaves through rolling terrain with plenty of scenic views to keep your adrenaline pumping. Confidence flags and directional markers will guide you along the way, and aid stations, including the famous Cub World Aid Station, will keep you fueled and hydrated.
Make It a Weekend to Remember
Planning to stay overnight? Camp Crooked Creek offers rustic cabins and camping spots, or check out nearby hotels in Shepherdsville or Elizabethtown, just 20 minutes away.
For food, don’t miss the pre-race spaghetti dinner on Friday night, courtesy of Scout Troop 157. They’ll also have meals available throughout the weekend for a small fee.
