DFMI 2026 RACE GUIDE
PACKET PICK-UP
Packet pick-up is on Friday, May 8, 4 - 7 p.m. at Blackfoot River Brewing Co. Pickup is BAGLESS. Please bring your own bag. We’ll have some Happy Trails merch on sale, including cowbells, running hats, and t-shirts. You can also pick up your packet on Saturday in Pioneer Park.
GENERAL COURSE INFO
All courses now begin on Cruse St. and end in Pioneer Park. Please give yourself plenty of time to park and/or walk to the starting line. You can view the courses and download them here. All courses have had some edits from last year, so update your Strava! Every course has color-coded flags and bibs.
WAVES
The 25K, 12K, and 5K races will have three waves. You’ll receive your assigned wave when you pick up your bib. Your wave is based on te estimated finish time that you entered during registration. The race emcee will announce wave starts five minutes apart. You don’t need permission to change waves. Your course time is based on when you cross the timing mats, not the race start time.
AID STATIONS
The 50K, 25K, and 12K aid stations will have a wide variety of snacks, including pickles, watermelon, potato chips, pretzels, Skratch hydration and energy chews, GU chews, Hammer gels, and salt capsules. The 5K aid station has water, Oreos, and dog treats.
GOODBYE, DISPOSABLE - HELLO, SPEEDCUP
We’re committed to keeping our trails clean and eliminating unnecessary waste from DFMI. Reusable SpeedCups will be provided to all 50K, 25K, and 12K runners at packet pickup. BRING THIS CUP WITH YOU DURING THE RACE OR CARRY YOUR OWN HYDRATION VESSEL. Disposable cups will not be provided at aid stations. HydraPak is offering all race registrants a one-time use 20% sitewide discount. Use discount code Fence-sr26 to save on training and race day hydration until the end of 2026. Thank you, HydraPak, for supporting sustainable racing!
DROPPING OUT
Mr. Prickers thinks it’s okay to stop, and we do too! If you cannot continue the race due to fatigue, injury, or ANY other reason, you must notify a volunteer and give them your bib! (Don’t worry, we’ll still give you a free beverage at the party.) Please DO NOT leave the course without first talking to a volunteer or course sweep. If you leave the course, it will be difficult to find you and help you.
TRAIL ETIQUETTE AND DOGS
Be kind, yield, keep one ear open, and leave no trace. (Seriously, please do not wear two air pods during the race.) The trails are open to bikes and other users during the event. Check out our Happy Trails tips. Dogs are welcome in the 12K Hike and 5K Dog Walk. For the safety of dogs and runners, please don’t bring them in a race.
