The Bermuda Union of Teachers (B.U.T.), Bermuda’s first registered trade union, will be hosting our annual 5K
Road Race as a part of our Founders’ Day celebrations on Sunday, February 5, 2023. This race is our main
effort to raise funds for the Union’s Youth Development Fund which supports our financial contributions to
programs benefiting students in the Bermuda Public School System. More than $180,000 has been raised from
this event allowing us to send young athletes to the Caribbean Union of Teachers annual games and other
summer development opportunities.
In recent years, young people have been able to attend Johns Hopkins Summer Internship
Programme, community service mission trips in the Caribbean, and sport development institutes
across the US, UK, and more.
The race has been held over several decades and attracts over 700 participants; both school aged children and
adults. We are excited to return this event to our annual calendar for 2023 and to, once again, bring together
schools and families in both a competitive and non-competitive experience for a great cause.
