After a two year hiatus amidst an international pandemic, the Bakersfield Sikh Women’s Association is excited to announce our 5th annual 5K Walk on April 23rd, 2022 at Riverwalk Park. This year’s theme is a “Walk for Hope” as we emerge post-pandemic. Our world has experienced great loss because of COVID-19 and our lives and livelihoods were interrupted.
This pause, and the devastating toll it is taking, seems to be lasting forever. But, it is in this moment of time when we are reminded that we are all in this together. We all hope and dream for a brighter, safer, and healthier future. Our goal is to raise $50,000; all proceeds will go to provide scholarships to graduating seniors from Kern County high schools.
In line with our mission to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of our community’s youth - regardless of gender, race, religion, sexual orientation or disability – the Bakersfield Sikh Women’s Association seeks to provide annual scholarship opportunities to high school students with help from community leaders and organizations like yourself. We started our organization in 2015 and since then we have given out over $100K worth of scholarships to deserving high school students. Our organization also partners with the Bakersfield Homeless shelter to help
fulfill their needs throughout the year.
Our sponsors for our annual 5K Walk will have an option to receive recognition through banners, posters, fliers, and social media coverage starting thirty days prior to the event and on the actual day of the event. We will also be placing sponsor logos on the back of our t-shirts. Every participant and volunteer in the 5K Walk will receive a t-shirt.
Our non-profit is a registered 501(c)(3) and all donations are tax deductible. We truly appreciate your support in helping our Bakersfield youth succeed.
Kind Regards,
Bakersfield Sikh Women’s Association
