Open Doors Outdoor’s mission is to take Veterans, their families and young people into the outdoors for reconnection, healthy activity and healing. Our participants can experience a variety of outdoor outings such as: hiking, UTV adventures, kayaking, snowshoeing, rucking, trail running racing as well as Cross Fit Events. Through these organized activities, participants gain physiological and psychological benefits that comes from safe and challenging group activities. Research also shows that time spent outdoors can improve mental health such as: stress, depression, anxiety, and PTSD.
ODO strives to provide all individuals access to the outdoors, providing an equitable healing experience. The UTV program is instrumental for disabled Veterans, individuals with mobility issues and as an exhilarating introduction to our organization for all. Moreover, the UTV program has seen significant success, serving autistic children. The UTV adventures provide therapeutic vibration and multi-sensory natural environments, benefitting autistic individuals who encounter unique sensory, communication, and behavioral challenges. One adventure at a time, ODO’s holistic approach heals and restores lives on many levels.
