Be the One Walk

Donation Goal: $5,000

The Walk is FREE.  Donations are welcomed and appreciated and will be used to:

  • Create and support ongoing events and promotions to raise awareness
  • Educate the community and professionals within the community on how to help a veteran in need, and
  • Develop resources to support veterans in need of mental health services and support.

100% of every donor dollar directly supports education, training, and resource development for veterans in crisis.

Whether it is $5, $20, or $100, every donation helps.

For example, a donation of $20 can provide 50 people with a dog tag key chain containing the information about the veteran’s crisis line and lets them know that they are not alone. We want these in the hands of as many Veterans as possible so the information is at their fingertips if/when they ever need it for themselves or a friend.

Plans for the use of donations in 2025-2026 include:

Suicide Prevention Training for community members and professionals to include:

  • Columbia University Protocol Training, where participants will learn to use the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale to:
    • Determine at-risk individuals
Identify risk factors and warning signs
Outline the types of suicidal ideation and four behaviors that indicate imminent risk.
Communicate effectively with an individual who may be at risk of hurting themselves.
  • Veteran’s Administration S.A.V.E. Training, which is in-person course that will help people act with care and compassion if they come across a Veteran who is in crisis or having thoughts of suicide.
  • Lethal Means Safety Education

Each donation brings us closer to a world without veteran suicide
