Volunteers of America Midstates

Volunteers of America Midstates provides Veterans with housing support and referrals to mental health services as part of a suicide prevention effort. Additionally, private donations like ours allow VOA Midstates to assist Kentucky National Guard and Reservists who are not able to access resources funded by federal dollars.

Established in 1896, VOA Mid-States is one of the region’s oldest, largest not-for-profit organizations. When we were founded, the common understanding of “volunteer” was someone who dedicated their life to helping others. That’s what we did in 1896, and that’s what we do today.

University of Louisville Salute to Service Veteran and Dependent Scholarship Fund

With more than 1,000 self-identified Veteran students and dependents of Veterans using transferred Post 9/11 GI Bill benefits, UofL has a large Veteran student community. While UofL has been named “Military Friendly” for 12 consecutive years, one small way the university is helping Veteran and dependent students even more is by having a scholarship fund these students can access. 

The Salute to Service Veteran and Dependent Scholarship Fund is used to assist Veterans and their dependent students to help them achieve their academic goals and their career aspirations. The fund is administered through the Military-Connected Student Resource Center. UofL began offering this scholarship in the fall 2022 semester.
