Yellowstone Rim Runners are passionate about building and supporting the local running community. All donations and a portion of our race proceeds will support youth running and places to run. From the 2025 Shamrock Run we received $1,181 in donations and sent $2,000 to YRPA, $1,500 to TrailNet and $1,000 toYes X Country. Thanks folks!

Supporting Places to Run

The Yellowstone River Parks Association (YRPA) has done a tremendous amount of work for trails and habitat in our area.  Runners, walkers and hikers have enjoyed the efforts of YRPA for many years.  If you've been to any river-based park - Dover, Riverfront, Two Moon, Norm's Island, Earl Guss, to name a few - you've enjoyed the work of YRPA.

Billings TrailNet is a nonprofit organization that supports urban trails and raises money to use as matching funds for local paved trails. Our goal is to sponsor their biggest fundraiser of the year, Ales for Trails. 

YES X Country is an elementary cross country meet held each fall for Yellowstone County students grades 4 through 6. It is put on by Montana Amateur Sports/Big Sky State Games.

Nike Cross Nationals (NXN) Travel Expense Support. NXN is a national cross country championship. We support high school groups that qualify and need funding for travel expenses for this post-season championship. We haven't had a request for funds in a few years.

Running Shoes for Kids. Good news! We have a balance in that fund of $1,017 from previous fundraisers.

If additional funds are available, the Yellowstone Rim Runners Board may select other ways to support our local running community. If you make a donation, we will cover the 4% processing fee on the donation. (If you register to run, there is a processing fee for that.)

Yellowstone Rim Runners is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Your donation is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. No goods or services are provided in exchange for your financial donation. You will receive an emailed receipt of your donation.
