The 2019 Polar Bear 5k Run/Walk is an event to benefit the Wadesboro Police Department’s Shop With a Cop program, as well as other regional Shop with a Cop Community Policing Programs around North & South Carolina. This program helps positively change the lives of children in our local communities by providing them with Christmas presents that they otherwise may not have received. All proceeds from this event go towards the programs it supports. Each year the amount of gifts each child is able to receive depends entirely on money donated by the community, and raised through special events such as this one.
Christmas is all about being filled with the spirit of giving, and we here at Shop with a Cop want to bring that spirit to our communities both at home and abroad. Shop with a Cop wants this to be both a rewarding and fun event, and everyone is encouraged to come dressed as their favorite Christmas character. We hope to see a bunch of elves, polar bears and cubs, and reindeer running in our 5k race. Wearing normal attire instead of a costume is optional!
This year is the 6th Annual Polar Bear Race and we hope that it is even better than the previous years. Last year we had a record year of giving, and to date, approximately $23,000.00 in Christmas gifts have been donated to nearly 120 kids right here in our community and abroad due in part to the support of our running community. We hope that you will join us again this year and help us continue to give during this year's Christmas season.

We will meet at the new police department on Rutherford Street. The Wadesboro Police Department's new office is located at 212 S. Rutherford St., Wadesboro, NC 28170. This is located near the intersection with NC 109, also locally known as Greene St, and Rutherford Street.

Dear Friend,
I want to thank you, on behalf of all of the men and women of the Wadesboro Police Department for your selfless contributions to Shop with a Cop which partners with us on our annual Shop with a Cop Community Policing Program. Through your generosity we are able to reach out and provide a very special Christmas to the less-fortunate children right here in our community. I believe we are never more blessed than when we give to others.
It is a priority for my department and I to continue to build up trust between the community and their police department. At the heart of this trust building is the policing philosophy of community policing. Here at the WPD we tirelessly work everyday to do just that. Shop with a Cop not only blesses the lives and holidays of our children and their families, but it also helps build trust between those children, their families and us.
Your selfless giving both today and yesterday has allowed us to donate over $20,000.00 in gifts to nearly 100 children right here in Wadesboro and Anson County, as well as in other communities. One thing you can be sure of when you support this program is that your contribution goes straight to the person who needs it most. Thank you for your continued giving!
