Samantha Iversen is a fun, smart, upbeat 17-year-old from Lake Shawnee in Jefferson Township, NJ. Sam has a great personality; she is funny, loves to laugh, swim, and be with her family, friends and two dogs.
Sam has had a lifelong struggle with gastrointestinal issues, so much so, that it is now necessary for her to be placed on the United Network for Organ Sharing List (national database) and is awaiting a transplant. Sam is currently on medications that she will be required to take after her transplant and continue for the rest of her life. Sam will also need to routinely travel to Pittsburgh, PA for ongoing follow up appointments with her doctors.
During her many hospitalizations, Sam rises to the challenges that her horrible situation has placed her in. With her positive attitude, great sense of humor, and continued motivation, she is determined to stay on course with her high school graduation in 2020. She also plans to go to college for her Nursing Degree in Pediatric Care.
Sam is currently a member of the Lake Shawnee Swim Team, Jefferson Falcons High School Swim Team and was also a Randolph YMCA Sharks team member for many years. Sam is an accomplished athlete and team leader, simultaneously keeping her grades high enough to be inducted into the National Honor Society.
Your donation will help ensure that Sam has the medical necessities required to allow her to live and enjoy life as a young adult and will very much help to minimize the financial strain on Sam and her family as they cope with ongoing medical expenses.
