Lake Hopatcong Pizza Trail Run 5K

Join us on SUNDAY11/19 for the The Lake Hopatcong Pizza Trail 5k.

This run is in honor and memory of Lynette Denson, a local resident and founder of Tru Nature Yoga. Proceeds will be used to establish a scholarship for a Jefferson High School student. Discover nature and the serenity of the trail by taking part in our Pizza Trail Run. We hope to give you a race that is fun, that gives you a "pizza" of the trail, a glimpse into trail running.

This course is super important to us. Right in our backyard, I always wanted to bring Lynette here but after a full hip replacement and bone cancer, it wasn't in the cards for my friend. In 2020, we hosted a race here and Lynette came. I had arranged for the EMTs to take her to the bridge but she opted to walk as much as she could.  She made it the whole 3.1 miles and had a great time. 2 months later she broke her femur from bone cancer and by May 2021 her battle with breast cancer ended. We miss her so much.

The Course:
The course is a loop around the Prospect point trails. The beginning of the terrain is a wide, pressed gravel road with some rocks and hills to contend with. After the first mile, the course turns a little more technical as cross the bridge to Liffy Island and explore some of the trails and former Boy Scout Campground. Expect to encounter some logs and some softer dirt on narrower single-track trails before heading back to the bridge and returning back to the wide trail.

  Pizza Themed Finisher's Medal, A slice of pizza catered by Little Nikki's, and a well-marked, chip-timed course. 

Space and parking are limited. We strongly recommend carpooling.
