The Long Island Maritime Museum, located in West Sayville, New York has operated since 1966. It is committed to research, preservation, and interpretation of our region’s rich nautical heritage and the role of Long Island in our nation’s maritime story.
Year after year, the Long Island Maritime Museum provides a haven for learning and a safe space for our community’s youth. We offer children’s summer camp, educational tours and lectures, volunteer boat building opportunities, and courses in safe boating, and art & crafts.
Our Museum also hosts exciting annual events such as the Seafood Festival, Halloween Boat Burning.
But like so many other organizations, we have been greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our two largest fundraising events have been cancelled. We are currently waiting for guidance from both New York State and local authorities on other revenue-producing events.
However, there is a possibility that we may not have any revenue producing events this year.
These are very uncertain times for the Museum. However, one thing is certain - we need financial assistance immediately if we are to keep our doors open.
