All entry fees and donations are tax deductable because we are a 5013C. All money made and collected will go to helping the kids in the Eastwood Running Club travel to The Nike Cross Country Championship. Our state and national competition who routinely qualifies for NXN usually comes from very affluent areas, such as Southlake Carroll High School and The Woodlands High School. The affluence of these schools gives them a distinct advantage to travel to camps and big invitational cross country meets. While an economically disadvantaged city, like El Paso, though qualified, is still unable to attend such events because of the lack of funding.
Because El Paso is geographically isolated from the rest of Texas (600 miles away from Dallas, 570 miles away from Austin, and 700 miles from Houston), our record over the last 6 seasons (Both our girls and boys programs have not been defeated by another El Paso team in 6 years) is indicative of the fact that EHSCC is not gaining sufficient competition from the region. Consequently, EHSCC formed a 501(3)(c) fund-raising entity called “The Eastwood Running Club” (TERC) to raise funds for travel and other related expenses that will allow EHSCC to compete at a higher level within state and national cross country invitational meets. The first priority of Eastwood Running Club is to raise enough money to take our kids to the Nike south regional qualifer in Houston TX in November.
