The Spencer Hockaday Foundation was founded in 2012 and is an organization that honors the memory of Spencer Hockaday. Spencer was a charismatic young man, who lost his life in a tragic car accident on March 10, 2011. As a Senior at Spotsylvania High School and Captain of the Spotsylvania Knights Baseball team, the weight of his untimely loss left his family, friends, Spotsylvania High School classmates, team members and a large community, with a vast hole where his charismatic and loving personality used to reside. In an effort to pay it forward, the foundation was born with a primary goal of supporting Spotsylvania High School baseball, but with such an outpouring and overwhelming response, the reach has grown. Spencer was engaging, always otherwise may not have the opportunity to experience youth sports. Our goal is to reach outside of Spotsylvania County and grow our organization to a regional entity that impacts youth on, and off, the field. wore a smile and gifted that smile to family, friends and strangers alike. His impact on others is undeniable and we plan to continue to share that same spirit, providing opportunities to disproportionate youth who otherwise may not have the chance to do so.
