Now celebrating our 16th season, BarnArts continues to make great strides in Building Community through Art. A large part of our mission involves engaging area youth in quality programming, supported by our Race Around the Lake. The race provides scholarships for our Summer Youth Theater, keeps registration fees affordable for all SYT participants, and supports youth opportunities year round.
Here’s how the Race Around the Lake will support our youth programming in 2026:
●Provide scholarships and financial support for our 15th Summer Youth Theater. This year’s show, The SpongeBob Musical, will bring 30 area youth together with our team of professionals for three weeks of acting, dancing and fun, culminating in four public performances at the Barnard Town Hall (Aug 7-9) with original staging, costumes, choreography, and a live band.
●Support our growing Artists-in-Schools programming including Global Music Residencies.
●Provide a free choral experience for area youth in December, working with professional conductor Michael Zsoldos and singing at our 16th Winter Carols on December 18th.
●Support our all-ages community events such as our Contra Dance, Masquerade Jazz & Funk Winter Music Carnival, and Barnard Street Dance.
●Provide acting experiences for youth within our regular community play schedule with opportunities for mixed-aged casting in our fall musical.
