The mission of BarnArts is to engage the local community as both viewers and participants in a year-round performing arts program which supports the existing and developing talents of local adults and children.
The vision of BarnArts is to foster and continuously support a community that views art as essential to social well-being, a community where a thriving arts culture and a thriving rural economy are mutually supportive, where the careers of artist, teacher and farmer are equally valued, and where time is set aside for the pursuit of creativity and shared learning.
The Race Around the Lake specifically supports BarnArts Youth Programming: sponsorship and scholarships for our Summer Youth Theater, visiting artists to local schools, and free programs for kids, like the BarnArts Youth Chorale.

RACE AROUND THE LAKE raises money for BarnArts youth programming, primarily our Summer Youth Theater, now in its 12th Season. These funds allow us to keep our enrollment costs low and offer scholarships to students who need additional assistance. We recently expanded our Arts-in-Education programming and offer a free youth choir experience every fall.
For those walking the 5k, we recommend bringing a water with you.
The 5k has one water station about 1/3 of the way through, while the 10k has 2 additional water stations.
In-person race will be in Barnard, Vermont on our usual trails around Silver Lake! Start/Finish is preliminarily scheduled at Silver Lake State Park, pending new State rules. An alternative Start/Finish area is available, if we need it!
