The Savanna Sanctuary
Conservation through education, connection with nature, art and community.
While working to regenerate the land and having developed this amazing space and place, we have asked ourselves the question: “how can we use and offer this space to create a positive impact in today’s world?”
To address this question, we formed “The Savanna Sanctuary”, a non-profit, with the mission to make White Oak Savanna a place for peace and personal growth through connection with nature, art and community. We believe the best way to accomplish our goals and aspirations is to identify organizations and individuals whose work aligns with our mission and provide a place where their work can be fruitful and prosper.
A “Savanna” is a plant community with balance between its parts. We hope to extend that sense of balance to the human community that visits WOS. We want to engage, collaborate with, support and provide space and programming to people and organizations doing the hard work of community building. We can provide a space for communities to interact with each other. A place for ideas to cross pollinate and grow into something stronger and more balanced.
