ERC Turkey Trot

November 28, 2024 Erie, PA 16505 US

Reasons

In the past few years, we have had faster runners cutting into the traffic lane in an attempt to pass slower runners.  Slower runners had no way of knowing that there would be faster runners that want to pass them.

The problem?  Running in traffic lanes is a hazard for both the runners and for the drivers trying to leave the park.  If we don't fix that, we'll lose the use of the park.

The solution?  Corrals

The Solution

To correct this, we're going to use a wave start with corrals.  Our speedsters (300-500 fastest runners) are going to start first (at 9:00).  At about 9:05 we'll start the next batch.  9:10 another group.

Color Coded Bibs

In the week before the event, you'll receive an email with your tentative corral assignment and bib color. We'll also have maps showing WHERE in the parking lot you'll gather.  Your bib color will determine when you start your race.

Start Times

Our current plans for start times are:

  • 9:00
  • 9:05
  • 9:10
  • 9:15
  • 9:20
  • 9:25

This schecule is subject to change as race day approaches.  We reserve the right to spread things out at start time.  We might do 8 minutes apart.

What if I miss my start?

Yes - we know.  It happens.  Fall into a later corral.  Be nice and DON'T run in traffic lanes to get ahead.
