VIRTUAL CHALLENGE FAQS

 

WHAT IS THE ESCAPE FROM MIAMI CHALLENGE?

This unique event will challenge swimmers, runners, riders , paddle gurus everywhere.  Push yourself to accumulate as many kilometers over the next 7 weeks as you can and Escape! You don't have to do it alone, grab a buddy and work together to Escape. Since this is a virtual challenge, you can swim, run/walk, ride or row/paddle wherever and whenever you want! Break the challenge up into manageable sections like 1-2 kilometers per day or go for the half Ironman distance badge! This is the most epic of epic challenges! 

DO I HAVE TO BE IN FL/ FROM FL TO DO THIS CHALLENGE?

No you do not have to be in or from FL to do this, anyone in the world can do this Virtual event! 

Note: At this time we are only able to ship the challenge kits to a continental U.S. address. 

CAN ANYONE REGISTER? 

Yes, the Escape From Miami Challenge is open to anybody. However, challenge Kits can only be mailed to a continental U.S. address.

WHEN IS THE CHALLENGE?

The challenge starts on Saturday August 15, 2020 and ends on Sunday, October 4, 2020.

IS THERE A SPECIFIC APP I NEED TO USE TO TRACK MY ACTIVITY?

You may track your distance with any app, watch, or fitness device that you would like. You just need to be able to track the distance that you completed.

CAN I COMPLETE MY VIRTUAL EVENT WITHOUT MY BIB? 

The bib is not required to be worn during the run or bike.

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY CHALLENGE KIT?

We will begin mailing your challenge kit starting on October 10, 2020 to the address you provided during registration. Only participants who submit their results by the 10/4 deadline will receive their mask and medal shipment. Finisher kit mailings are only available within the continental U.S.

WILL YOU SHIP CHALLENGE KITS INTERNATIONALLY?

At this time we are only able to ship the challenge kits to a continental U.S. address. 

HOW DO I ACCESS THE GIF's ?

The GIFs can be found on Instagram. To access the GIF stickers, tap the add sticker button at the top of Stories as usual. From there, select the new GIF option, and a library of GIFs will appear. Search for "Escape from" and you will see the GIPHYs. Drag the one you want onto your photo or video.  If you'd like to use it on other platforms, you would still need to use Instagram initially but can save the photo to upload to a different platform (Facebook, etc.) instead.

HOW CAN I GIVE BACK DURING THIS DIFFICULT TIME?

If your family doesn’t rely on school meals, you may not be aware of the heroic efforts of Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ nutrition professionals. When COVID-19 hit Miami, the district’s School Lunch Heroes responded to school closures without hesitation committing to feed the children of our city through the unknowns of this health crisis. We applaud their commitment to feeding our children and encourage you to support them. During registration, please consider supporting Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ food service program, so they can continue to serve our children and so that they have the critical food safety equipment needed to safely deliver food to children who without school meals, may go hungry. Your gift will help offset the extraordinary expenses that the district is incurring due to this health crisis, and that are not covered by the city, state or federal governments.

ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT FAQS

 

HOW DO I DOWNLOAD MY BIB?

Click here to visit your Profile. From there, you will see "View Digital Bib" on the right panel of your registration for this event. You must be logged into your RSU account to access this. You do not need to wear a bib during this Challenge.

HOW DO I RESEND MY CONFIRMATION EMAIL?

RunSignUp allows you to access your registration through your Profile. From there you can resend your confirmation email if you have misplaced it, or if you have not received it. 

Note: If you did not receive your confirmation make sure to check your Spam/Clutter folders.

You will always be able to resend the registration confirmation for any registrations associated with your Profile (including any sub-accounts of yours) by following these steps:

1. Sign In to RunSignUp
2. Go to your Profile
3. See your events under Upcoming Events
4. Click Resend Confirmation next to the registration that you would like to resend the confirmation email.
5. Check the email listed in your Profile for your registration confirmation

Click Resend Confirmation next to the registration that you would like to resend the registration confirmation.

At that point, the confirmation email will be sent to the email address associated with that registration. If the original confirmation message did not send because you had a typo in an email address, you will need to update this information as explained in How to Correct Typo/Modify Profile.

HOW DO I RESET MY RSU PASSWORD? 

If you ever happen to forget your password, simply open up the “Login” , and click Forgot Password? At this point, you can enter in the email address you use to access your RunSignup account, and click on the button labeled Send Reset Password Link

After clicking the “Reset Password” button, you will receive an email with a unique link allowing you to reset the password for your RunSignUp account.

HOW CAN I UPDATE MY SHIPPING ADDRESS?

1. Go to your Profile
2. See your events under Upcoming Events
3. Click on "Manage Registration"
4. Click on "Shipping" at the top of the page and update your shipping address

Note : The deadline to update your Shipping Address is October 4, 2020

MY SPOUSE/CHILD/FAMILY/FRIEND REGISTERED ME. HOW DO I MOVE THAT TO MY ACCOUNT?

I AM LISTED AS ANONYMOUS IN THE RESULTS , WHY?

When you create an account, you have an option to be listed as anonymous in results.  If you do not want this, go into your profile and click to edit profile.  You will see a check box at the bottom that you want to UNCHECK to be listed again.

MILE SUBMISSION FAQS

 

HOW DO I SUBMIT MY ACTIVITY?

Click here to visit your profile. From there, you will see "Submit Virtual Results" and other options on the right panel of your registration for this event. You must be logged into your RSU account to access this. Activity must be logged within the challenge time frame of August 15 – October 4, 2020. You can also visit the Log Your Activity section. You can track your distance with a number of different phone apps (Strava, Zwift ,Garmin Connect, etc.), your watch, or your favorite fitness device. CAN I USE A TREADMILL, ROWING MACHINE or  ZWIFT? 

Yes, you may! Treadmills, rowing machine and bike trainer programs are allowed if they provide distance. kilometers are kilometers! All kilometers count!

HOW FAR DO I HAVE TO RUN/WALK/RIDE/SWIM/ROW/PADDLE ?

As far as you like. We decided to leave this open-ended, so your distance is as far as you want to go. Distance will be tracked every time you submit an activity.

DO MY KILOMETERS COUNT FROM BEFORE THE START DATE OF MY CHALLENGE?

No, only activity you do from August 15, 2020 to October 4, 2020 count.

CAN I STILL ENTER KILOMETERS IF I MISSED A DAY OR I SIGNED UP AFTER THE CHALLENGE START DATE? 

Yes, you can always go back to a prior day and enter your distance. We allow you to retroactively add distance covered. 

DO I NEED TO SUBMIT PROOF OF MY ACTIVITY?

This virtual challenge is based on the honor system. However, we would love to see you share your accomplishments via Photo submission & social media. Be sure to post photos each time you escape. Tag #EscapeMiami and we’ll re-share all the fun ways you are progressing in the challenge

WHAT IS THE REFERRAL PROGRAM?

Escape For Free! For every three friends you refer, get $9 back!

1. Sign up.
2. Once your registration is complete, you will receive a unique referral link to share with your friends, family or post on social media.
3. Each time someone signs up through your link, you'll accrue one referral. Earn 3 referrals and get $9 credited back to you. Total refunds cannot surpass the solo entry fee.  Easy right?!?!

WHAT ARE THE RULES?

The referral has to sign up with your unique referral link. We cannot apply a referral link to any accounts after registration. 

HOW DO I FIND MY REFERRAL LINK?

After you register, you will receive your unique referral link in your confirmation email as well as on the confirmation page screen. You may also resend your confirmation email through your Profile.
