Pea Green Pedal - 20 Mile
Your registration fee includes lunch, 2 drink tickets (soda, libations, etc.), a Delta Health Foundation water bottle or gaiter, and your name entered into a drawing to win a free bike!
The Pea Green 20 mile route is actually closer to 22 miles at 21.7. It is a rolling route with a total ascent of about 750 feet; the biggest challenge for some riders will be climbing the Olathe hill as you leave Olathe. The reward, however, will be that you will have access to a second aid station about a little over a mile down the road!
There will be two aid stations: The first will be in Olathe at Lions Park, just over 9 miles into the route. The second will be at the Rocking W Cheese & Milk located at the corner of Hwy 348 and 5700 road (the second aid station location was chosen because of where it falls on the 40-mile ride).
Before you get to Olathe, the route map takes you to North River Road (it runs parallel to highway 50). You will only be on North River Road a short distance before a left turn takes you onto to Highway 50, where you will ride one mile before turning off of Hwy 50 onto Old Highway Road continuing into Olathe.
There is another option! You can go straight on North River Road, which turns from paved into gravel for around two miles. Depending on your bike, you may choose that option, it is road bike worthy. If you do, North River Road turns into North Wortman Avenue. At the first stop sign, turn right, then left onto Hersum Avenue and follow it through to Lions Park Aid Station.

Pea Green Pedal - 40 Mile

The Pea Green 40 mile ride is actually 41 miles; It is a rolling route with and with a total assent of nearly 1500 feet. There is a very challenging hill at around the 20.5 mile mark after you turn onto Ida Road. If you think that you were feeling lucky not having to climb the Olathe Hill, the Ida Rd hill will change that perception!
There will be two aid stations on the route, the first coming at just over the 16-mile mark at the Olathe Lions Park. The second will be at the Rocking W Cheese & Milk located at the corner of Hwy 348 and 5700 road at the 31 mile mark; plan your water consumption accordingly and carry plenty of water between stops.

Pea Green Pedal Mountain Bike / Gravel Ride
Your registration fee includes lunch, 2 drink tickets (soda, libations, etc.), a Delta Health Foundation water bottle or gaiter, and your name entered into a drawing to win a free bike!
The Mountain/Gravel route is designated as such because it can be ridden using either a mountain or gravel. The route is 13 miles with about 1100 feet of total climb. Please read the following description and if possible, get out to the BLM portion of the ride to make an accurate choice. The ride heads west from Pea Green Corner on Banner Road for approximately two miles; the first mile is paved, the second mile is gravel. You will then turn off Banner Road to pass through the Public Access gate onto BLM. The BLM portion of the route is a large 8+ mile double track/4x4 route with about 850 feet of climb. There are two out and back overlooks that give you amazing views of Roubideau Canyon and beyond!
The first overlook is around 200 yards off the route and is a nice break during the climbing phase of the ride, overlooking Roubideau Canyon. The second overlook comes after you reach the top, and is a little less than a mile out and back of smooth, flat double track that takes you to an amazing view of the connection of Roubideau Canyon and Potter Canyon. The overlooks are clearly an option, but well worth the ride out and back.
The ride finishes with the mile of gravel, and mile of pavement, back to the start at Pea Green.
Choose your bike wisely. we have personally ridden the BLM loop of the route on 3 different bikes and here is my assessment of each.
• Drop bar, pure gravel bike with 38cm tires: Our least favorite, but doable. Though the terrain is mostly dirt with some gravel mixed in, there are several short, rocky portion areas that you will have to greatly decrease your speed for, and pick your line carefully through them.
• Drop bar multi-terrain gravel bike with 2.2 inch tires: This is perhaps our overall favorite bike and suited for multi-terrain rides. But, again, there are areas that you will have to slow down and pick your line, though not as much as the pure gravel; we did enjoy it on this ride.
• 29er hardtail mountain bike: This is, by far our favorite on this ride, specifically because of a 3+ mile fun factor area. After the second overlook area there is a flat and downhill area that is best experienced on a mountain bike, especially if you like a fast downhill, with a few areas where you can catch some air. It is very non-technical, though you will still have to pay attention. If you are a mountain biker, and like a fast downhill with a few curves, and some small jumps, this is a very exhilarating section of the route and a mountain bike will make it much more fun!
