Waitlist: Team Captains: Waitlist Your Team
Team Captains - This is the waitlist for your team to receive Reach the Beach - Chicago entry invitations.
Entry invitations will be awarded to the first teams to join this waitlist, subject to available team slots to fill competitive divisions. Entry invitations awarded to waitlisted teams will contain a password to enter when officially registering during a specified 72-hour registration period on a private RunSignUp registration site.
Team Captains must register themselves and their 3 team members on this waitlist at the same time. Team Captains will need to enter the name, email address, date of birth, gender, phone, and mailing address of each team member.
After entering your team information for all 4 members in the 1st screen and pressing “Continue,” you will be given 3 team options in the 2nd screen ... but only one applies to you. As Team Captain, please click on the “Create a New Team” box (ignore “Join an Existing Team” option which is preselected). Then select your “Team Type” (division your team will compete in). After your division selection, please follow the directions beneath the “Description” which pops up to complete your team's waitlist registration.
Once a team is waitlisted, Team Captains will have the ability to make changes to their team including removing and adding members, changing the team name, team type (competitive division), team gender, and optional password. We encourage Captains to keep their waitlisted team updated, so we can properly assess the awarding of entry invitations. NOTE: Once a team is officially registered, only event administrators may make team changes.

Waitlist: Individual Swimmers: Join Waitlist (for possible invitation to form team)
This is the waitlist for individual swimmers not yet on a team to receive a Reach the Beach - Chicago entry invitation.
When registering for this waitlist, by default you will be prompted to "Join an Existing Team." However, when you click on the "Select a Team" drop down menu, the only selection available to you will be to choose "Individual Swimmers (not a team)." This may seem a bit confusing, so we just want to confirm ... you are being waitlisted as an individual swimmer (most likely hoping to join a team). You have not joined an existing team.
On October 1st, if there are not yet enough teams waitlisted to sell out the relay race, we will begin awarding entry invitations to match individual swimmers and form teams needed to fill the divisions (subject to gender needs and swimmer team preferences). We will honor first-come-first-served waitlist registration when we can. However, a swimmer’s willingness to serve as a Team Captain and relationships with other waitlisted individual swimmers (especially if a team is partially formed) are valued and will be taken into consideration. NOTE: We will not award entry invitations to individual swimmers for the Distance Competition division, but individual swimmers are encouraged to form their own teams in that division.
You may also contact other individual swimmers on this waitlist to proactively form a team on your own, as there is a better chance of getting in the swim as a member of a waitlisted team. To view other waitlisted individual swimmer's email addresses, click on the "Individual Swimmers" tab at the top of the home page, then click on "individual Swimmers (not a team)." You may also view this information in your RunSignUp profile under "Groups."
