Mu Alpha Theta and Math Team of South Oldham High School
Date/Time: 3/14 at 1:59pm EST
Location: The run/walk event will take place in Beckley Creek Park and will include parts of The Louisville Loop, The Black Willow Trail, The Poetry Trail, and The Festival Promenade.
We will meet to start at the round picnic tables at the south end of the Festival Promenade, near the Falls City Soccer Fields.
For GPS purposes, use: 500 Argo Dr, Jeffersontown, KY 40299 to find the nearest parking lot.
If soccer is occurring at the same time, there is overflow parking on the other side of Beckley Creek Parkway, as well as an additional log near the Humana Legacy Commons Fountain.
IMPACT STATEMENT
We are raising money for the South Oldham High School Math Team and Mu Alpha Theta Chapter. Our club promotes math positivity in our school community through two main activities: competing in local and national math competitions and providing peer tutors within our school. The funds raised will be used to help subsize the costs of entering contests, purchase practice materials, such as released contest booklets, sponsor students who wish to participate but cannot afford contest fees, and provide snacks for students during contests and tutoring sessions. Our club is currently funded 100% by student membership dues and we are often forced to make difficult choices about which contests to participate in due to budget limitations. For example, we have recently started hosting the AMC contests for our entire district, but doing so is a risk and a burden because of its large up-front cost for registration. Funds from this event would help us continue to grow opportunities for engagement in mathematics within our school and our district without relying on additional fees to our current members.
