WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Walk the Circle 5K is a family-friendly community run/walk open to participants of varying ages and experience levels. Participants may run, jog, or walk the 5K course.

The event is centered around community participation rather than competitive racing. Participants should be courteous to other runners, walkers, park visitors, and volunteers throughout the event.

EVENT DAY CHECK-IN

Participant check-in will open at 8:00 AM at the designated registration area. Registered participants should check in upon arrival before proceeding to the start area.

Any additional event-day instructions will be communicated to registered participants prior to October 10.

PARKING

Participants will utilize the existing public parking available at Oyster Creek Park. Parking is limited, so carpooling is highly encouraged.

Please allow additional time for parking and arrival. Accessible parking will remain available for individuals who need it.

START & FINISH

The 5K will begin promptly at 9:00 AM and follow the designated route through the existing Oyster Creek Park trail system. The start and finish locations will be clearly identified with event signage.

Please review the Course Map before race day and follow all directional signage and volunteer instructions throughout the 5K.

COURSE

The course is approximately 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) and follows existing park trails. Directional signage and event volunteers will be positioned at key points to help guide participants.

Participants should remain on the designated course and be mindful that Oyster Creek Park remains a public park.

WATER STATIONS

Water will be available at designated locations, including the start/finish area and a water station along the 5K course.

Participants are also welcome to bring their own reusable water bottle.

MEDICAL ASSISTANCE & SAFETY

First-aid resources and event personnel will be available on-site. A designated representative with CPR training will be present, and event organizers will have access to first-aid supplies and an AED.

In the event of a medical emergency, please alert the nearest event volunteer or call 911.

POST-RACE ACTIVITIES

The event doesn't end at the finish line! After completing the 5K, participants are encouraged to stay until 10:30 AM to visit our food vendors, diabetes education and health booths, community organizations, and event partners.

Walk the Circle 5K is designed to raise funds for diabetes medical devices while creating an opportunity for the community to learn about diabetes awareness, prevention, management, and available resources.

FOOD & REFRESHMENTS

Food and beverages will be available for purchase from participating vendors. Offerings may include pre-packaged foods, bottled beverages, and eligible cottage food products.

Participants with food allergies, dietary restrictions, or other dietary needs should review product information and consult individual vendors regarding ingredients before purchasing or consuming food.

COURSE ETIQUETTE

Please be considerate of fellow participants and other park users. Walkers and participants moving at a slower pace should keep to the right when practical, allowing faster participants to safely pass on the left.

Follow event signage and volunteer directions, remain aware of your surroundings, and avoid blocking the trail. If using headphones, keep the volume low enough to hear volunteers, announcements, and others around you.

WEATHER

Walk the Circle 5K is an outdoor event. Event organizers will monitor weather conditions and communicate any necessary delays, modifications, or cancellations to registered participants.

Participant safety will take priority in the event of severe or unsafe weather conditions.

WHAT TO BRING

Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable athletic clothing and appropriate walking/running shoes, bring water as desired, and dress according to the weather forecast.

There will be no gear check, so please leave valuables at home or securely stored before participating.
