Description

Hundreds of young participants turn out to show their determination and pride. The Junior Fun Run is open to children in grades five and below. Grades 4 & 5 run a mile, 3rd graders run 1200 Meters, first and second graders run 800 Meters, kindergarten students run 400 Meters, and students under 5 years old run 100 Meters. The Fort Myers Track Club helps to make this a fantastic active event for the children and many children run year after year!

Event Information
The Edison Festival of Light Junior Run will immediately precede the Edison Festival of Light 5K on Saturday, February 20, 2021.
 
Race Start: 4:00 pm
Location: 2500 Edwards Drive, 33901 (Campo Felice)
Race Day (Packet Pick-Up Only): 3pm NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION

Pre-K & Under (100 Meters) starts at 4pm followed consecutively by each event: 400 Meter (Kindergarten), 800 Meter (1st & 2nd Grade),  1200 Meter (3rd Grade) & 1-Mile (4th & 5th Grade).
 
Younger participants may choose to run a longer event, however older participants will not be permitted to participate in an event below the designated grade (age) cut-off.
 
Online registration closes at Midnight on February 19, 2021.  The will be NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION, no exceptions. Runners or Walkers will be permitted to pick-up bibs and packets race day starting at 3pm. To safeguard against large gatherings at the event, participants are encouraged to register online (anytime) or in-person at the two provided pre-race packet pick-up & registration options (scroll to Packet Pick-up & Registration for additional information).

EFOL Junior Run Covid-19 Plan & Guidelines
  • All volunteers, staff, and participants will wear face coverings/masks at the race site and will comply with recommended CDC social distancing guidelines.
    Runners and walkers will be allowed to remove their face coverings after they cross the start line and must put them back on after crossing the finish line.
  • At all times, the participants should observe social distancing as much as possible.
  • Registrants parent/guardian will sign the race waiver upon registering that they will comply with this Covid-19 plan. 
  • If participants arrive for packet pick-up on race day, participants are asked to leave the race venue until 15 minutes before the start of the race(s). 
  • Packet pick-up will run for each of 2 days prior to the race to space out the runners coming into the packet pick up facility. Face masks must be worn for packet pick up and only one person should go into the facility to pick up the packet.
  • Portable toilets and hand-wash stations will be available pre & post-race.
  • Bottled water only will be available at the finish. Participants are encouraged to bring their own means of hydration.
  • Any participant experiencing Covid-19 symptoms 2-3 days prior to race are asked not to participate, EVENT FEE IS NON-REFUNDABLE.
  • Race Start: The start will be a group start based on participant age and event; Pre-K -> Kindergarten -> 1st & 2nd Grade -> 3rd Grade -. 4th & 5th Grade.
  • Spectators/Non-Participants are required to wear masks at-all-times and follow social distancing guidelines. Spectators/Non-Participants will not be allowed to remain near and around the start/finish area.  All participants and non-participants must keep this area clear for finishing runners.
  • Vendor tables will be spaced at least 6-ft apart.
  • Due to COVID-19 there will be no post-race festivities.
  • Participants are encouraged to leave the premises after they have completed the race to reduce large crowds.
