Join us for the 15th annual Kiwanis BUG Chase!
If you have participated in this race before, you know what a great time you have running this unique course while helping the school children of Lee County. The course includes cypress wetlands, pine flatwoods, and a restoration area. Wildflowers and low-growing plants such as purple aster grow along the paths.
The Kiwanis BUG Chase 5K Run is a race to benefit the Bring Up Grades programs in local Lee County elementary schools and other Fort Myers Metro-McGregor Kiwanis club sponsored children’s projects. Kiwanis Bring up Grades, or ‘BUG’, is a program designed to provide recognition to students who raise their grades to an acceptable range and maintain or continue to raise them from one grading period to the next. Schools that have been supported by the club’s BUG program include Littleton Elementary, Rayma C. Page Elementary and Orangewood Elementary.
The Fort Myers Metro-McGregor Kiwanis Club also supports the following sponsored leadership programs: Aktion Club at LARC, Key Club at FSW Collegiate High, Builders Club at Cypress Lake Middle and K-Kids at Littleton Elementary. The club funded multi-sensory rooms at Tropic Isles Elementary, NFM Academy for the Arts, Heights Elementary, Rayma C. Page Elementary and James Stephens Elementary. We supply a world atlas to either every fourth or third grade student at the following schools: Rayma C. Page Elementary, Heights Elementary, Orangewood Elementary, Littleton Elementary and James Stephens Elementary.
The Fort Myers Metro-McGregor Kiwanis club also supports many other organizations including the Pine Manor Improvement Assn., March of Dimes, The Salvation Army, Ronald McDonald House, Early Learning Coalition of SWFL, Dr. Piper Center, Children's Network of SWFL, Healthy Start SWFL, United Way, Lee, Hendry & Glades and more!
