The Kiwanis BUG Chase 5K Run is a race to benefit the Bring up Grades programs in local Lee County elementary schools and other Fort Myers Metro-McGregor Kiwanis club sponsored children’s projects. Kiwanis Bring up Grades, or ‘BUG’, is a program designed to provide recognition to students who raise their grades to an acceptable range and maintain or continue to raise them from one grading period to the next. Schools currently supported by the club’s BUG program are Littleton Elementary, Rayma C. Page Elementary and Orangewood Elementary.
The Fort Myers Metro-McGregor Kiwanis Club also supports the following sponsored leadership programs: Aktion Club at LARC, Circle K International (CKI) at Florida Gulf Coast University, Key Club at FSW Collegiate High, Builders Club at Cypress Lake Middle and K-Kids at Littleton Elementary. The club built multi-sensory rooms at Tropic Isles Elementary, NFM Academy for the Arts, Heights Elementary and Rayma C. Page Elementary. We supply every fourth grader at the following schools with a world atlas: Rayma C. Page Elementary, Heights Elementary, Orangewood Elementary and Littleton Elementary. The club built and supports a reading oasis and reading mentoring program at Orangewood Elementary.
The Fort Myers Metro-McGregor Kiwanis club also supports many other organizations including the SWFL MS Support Group, Pine Manor Improvement Assn., March of Dimes, The Salvation Army, Ronald McDonald House, Johns Hopkins All Children’s Outpatient Care, Early Learning Coalition, Children’s Advocacy Center, Healthy Start SWFL, United Way, Lee, Hendry, Glades & Okeechobee and more!

RaceJoy is a great way to track yourself or others and receive or send cheers. Times may be submitted via RaceJoy upon completion of your event. However, if you are concerned about the accuracy of your time, please wear a GPS watched or keep your time on your measured 3.1 mile course. Race organizers can correct time discrepancies, just contact via the "Questions" button on this page.
You must move a distance: RaceJoy will not work when using a treadmill. Participants using a treadmill to complete their distance must enter results manually.
Do NOT use Wi-Fi: You may receive a prompt saying Wi-Fi will improve your location services. Disregard this prompt, and make sure to use your cellular service provider when you turn your tracking on.
No Guarantee: RaceJoy is bringing together multiple technologies to deliver advanced tracking and interactive experiences during the race. There are many variables that affect RaceJoy's ability to function properly and there is no guarantee RaceJoy will function for a given user. Factors that may affect RaceJoy include older phone models, improper phone set up, weak cell signals in a given region and participant's use of Wi-Fi.
Packets will be mailed to individuals residing outside of Lee County, FL between January 9-January 30, dependent upon participants' registration date.
The first 200 runners will receive a light blue short sleeve t-shirt in a performance material.
