The Flatwoods 5K is run just after sunrise on a natural, scenic limerock loop road around the Austin Cary Forest. The race is chip timed and the course is acuratley measured, with mile markers. There is a water station at halfway, and post-race refreshments.
Early registration is $15 plus $15 for a shirt. Runners 14 years of age or younger race for free, but the shirt still costs $15 (sizes down to adult XS). Day of race registration is $20 and shirts are $20 (sizes available first come first serve).
T-shirts are synthetic nylon with long leaf pine artwork. This year's color will be orange.
Pine cone trophies to top male and female open and masters runners, and top 3 in all age groups. All runners 14 years or younger will recieve an award.
From I-75 & NW 39thAve (Hwy 222) – go East approx. 9 mi to Waldo Rd (Hwy 24). Turn left (North) on Waldo Rd approx. 5 mi to the entrance of the Austin Cary Forest on your right. There will be a lighted sign at the entrance, with traffic attendants to direct you to parking.
Please arrive early. It is a 1.5 mi drive from the Forest entrance to the parking area. The race will begin promptly at 8:30 am.
The race is chip timed with a gun start. The course is pancake flat and run on limerock roads through pine forests.
