THE NEXT CHAPTER: SPEED
Albert has competed successfully from 1K through 20K, including victories at every distance he entered during the 2026 NWANA season.
But competing over 10K, 15K and 20K requires a different type of preparation from the shorter events.
With performance improvement now the priority, Albert has chosen to end his competitive focus on the longer distances and concentrate his training on the 1K, 3K and 5K.
The objective is not simply to participate.
It is to improve speed, technique and competitive performance.
ATHLETE AND BUILDER
Albert’s relationship with Nordic Walking extends beyond competition.
In November 2024, while preparing to leave Latvia for the United States, Albert called the president of the Latvian Nordic Walking federation from Riga Airport to say goodbye.
During that conversation, he learned that North America did not have the type of Nordic Walking federation structure he had experienced in Latvia.
During the flight to the United States, an idea took shape:
build one.
That decision eventually led to the creation and development of the Nordic Walking Association of North America.
Today, Albert combines active competition with leadership of NWANA and the long-term development of Nordic Walking in North America.
