Due to COVID-19, the 2020 Waves of Gray - 5K; Brain Cancer/Tumor Awareness Walk is Canceled

Thank you for registering as a participant in the 2020 Waves of Gray - 5K; Brain Cancer/Tumor Awareness Walk.

As our Nation continues to see increased COVID-19 cases, with no signs of slowing down, all large scale events are being impacted in one way or another. Due to this unprecedented situation, we've decided to cancel the 2020 Waves of Gray - 5K; Brain Cancer/Tumor Awareness Walk. With hundreds of participants anticipated to attend this year’s walk, this decision was certainly not an easy one to make. However, our #1 priority is the health & safety of the brain cancer/tumor community and all participants. Though the entire country continues to be impacted by this pandemic, we cannot give up on our 2020 fundraising efforts.

With that in mind, it is our hope that you will consider your registration fee as a donation to our 2020 fundraising. If you choose to do this, you will be entered into a drawing, which will be held on 10/04/2020, for the following.

One Ocean Resort & Spa;
1 Ocean Blvd, Atlantic Beach, FL 32233 –
One night stay (Includes Room, Breakfast for 2 in Azurea, Valet Parking, Tax & Resort Fee) - Expires 06/01/2021
If for any reason you do not wish to donate you $25 registration fee to the 2020 fundraising efforts, we will apply it to next year’s walk registration on May 8, 2021.
You must let us know at by sending an email to by September 30, 2020. If we do not hear from you by this date, we will put your registration towards a donation and you will be entered into the raffle.
Waves of Gray will be having a variety of fundraising campaigns over the next several months to assist with the 2020 fundraising efforts. We encourage you to check our FB page often to see how you can help us with these efforts.
Our first campaign started August 1, 2020 and runs through August 14, 2020. With many companies and businesses mandating the wearing of face masks, and with your safety in mind during the pandemic, we have designed a Waves of Gray face mask. For every mask sold, Waves of Gray will receive 50% of that purchase. Follow the link below and select your desired quantity. Your masks will be shipped directly to you.

The Waves of Gray – 5K Brain Cancer/Tumor Awareness Walk was created in memory of Fred K. Fenton II.
Fred lost his battle with brain cancer (glioblastoma) in November 2016. When he was sick, our family felt extremely helpless as caregivers often do. This walk is our way to unite the Jacksonville brain tumor community, bring awareness to this horrible disease & raise funds for brain cancer/tumor research.
Waves of Gray has partnered with Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center. 100% of all funds raised will benefit the Waves of Gray Neuro-Oncology Endowment supporting research programs through Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center in Jacksonville, Florida.
Thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you on October 24th, 2020!
