10th Anniversary - Waves of Gray - 5K; Brain Cancer/Tumor Awareness Walk
In 2027, Waves of Gray will proudly celebrate its 10th Anniversary! What began as a way to honor the memory of Fred K. Fenton II has grown into a powerful community united by hope, remembrance, and a shared commitment to fighting brain cancer/tumors.
Fred lost his battle with glioblastoma in November 2016. During his illness, our family experienced firsthand the fear, uncertainty, and helplessness that so many brain tumor patients and their caregivers face. Out of that heartbreak came a mission: to bring the Jacksonville brain cancer/tumor community together, raise awareness of this devastating disease, and help advance brain cancer/tumor research so that, one day, more families will have hope for a different outcome.
Ten years later, Fred’s legacy continues to make a difference. Waves of Gray has grown into more than a 5K walk. It is a community of survivors, fighters, caregivers, families, friends, and loved ones who stand together to remember those we have lost, honor those still fighting, support those navigating a diagnosis, and invest in a brighter future through research.
As we celebrate this incredible milestone, we invite you to join us for our 10th Anniversary celebration on Saturday, May 8, 2027! Whether you walk in memory of someone you love, in honor of a survivor or fighter, in support of a friend or family member, or simply because you believe in our mission, you are part of something meaningful. Every step represents a story, every ribbon represents a life touched by brain cancer, and every dollar brings us closer to a future with more answers and better treatment options.
Waves of Gray proudly continues its support to Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center in Jacksonville, Florida. 100% of all funds raised benefit the Waves of Gray Neuro-Oncology Endowment, which supports research programs through Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center. Your participation, generosity, and continued support help make this research possible.
For 10 years, we have walked together in memory, in honor, and in hope. As we celebrate how far we have come, we look forward to the difference we can make together in the years ahead.

For 10 years, our community has walked together to honor & remember lost loved ones, celebrate survivors and fighters, support families, raise awareness, and help fund brain cancer/tumor research.
Now we're celebrating a decade of LOVE, HOPE, REMEMBRANCE and COMMUNITY.

Waves of Gray began with a simple mission: to bring greater awareness to brain cancer/tumors and create a community where no one has to face this disease alone. Today, our annual 5K brings together:

🌊 INDIVIDUAL - Walk, run, stroll, roll or simply come be part of the celebration!
👨👩👧👦 FAMILY - Bring the whole family and make a day of it at the beach.
🏄 TEAM - Gather your friends, family, coworkers or organization and create your own wave!
Team Tip: Teams of 15 or more will have the opportunity to have a team tent and participate in the tent decorating contest! The more creative your team, the better! Tropical Christmas costumes, decorations and team spirit are highly encouraged.
🩶 SURVIVOR / FIGHTER - This registration option is our way of recognizing and celebrating those who have faced brain cancer/tumors. We walk with you. We celebrate you. We stand beside you.
