Are images of palm trees, sandy beaches, and tiki huts crossing your mind? Once you leave the mainland you’re on "island time". The mood is laid back and friendly. People wear things like flip flops, fishing hats and shorts, not high heels and ties. So why not have a triathlon in paradise?!
Game On! Key Largo Triathlon at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park will take place on August 29, 2021. It will feature an Olympic and Sprint distance Triathlon, Duathlon, and an Olympic distance Aquabike. Swim in the calm waters just off John Pennekamp State Park's beach, bike on US1 & Card Sound Road, and run along US1 in the beautiful Florida Keys.
This race will be part of the Florida Keys Triathlon series on May 23rd and August 29, 2021. Who does NOT want to visit the Florida Keys?! This is a GREAT destination race. Make this a weekend of enjoying the Florida Keys!
The first undersea park in the U.S., John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park encompasses approximately 70 nautical square miles. While the mangrove swamps and tropical hammocks in the park's upland areas offer visitors a unique experience, it is the coral reefs and their associated marine life that bring most visitors to the park. Many enjoy the view of the reef from a glass-bottom boat tour, but visitors can get a closer look by scuba diving or snorkeling. Canoeing and kayaking through the park's waters are popular activities; fishing is permitted in designated areas. Visitors can enjoy walking on short trails, picnicking, or swimming at the beach. The Visitor Center has a 30,000-gallon saltwater aquarium and nature videos are shown in its theater.
