**Arrive 30 minutes before race time. Individual emails will be sent with your start time. You may be asked to wait in your car if you arrive too early.
We thank you and congratulate you for choosing to run with us at the first ever MIA RUNWAY 5K. Because of you we are able to raise much needed funds for the American Cancer’s Making Strides Against Cancer during October which is traditionally a month used to raise funds and awareness for causes associated with Breast Cancer. Please follow the guidelines and instructions below to help us provide the most safe and enjoyable flight possible. Please read carefully.
Screening
Temperature check at security checkpoint prior to entering the hangar. Have ID ready. Bib number pick up area is inside the hangar, once inside you may not return to your vehicle. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher will be sent back to their car and denied entry (barricade secure area). Participants will be asked the following three (yes/no) questions:
-Do you have any of these Coronavirus symptoms?
-Within the past 14 days have you been in contact with anyone that had Covid-19 or Covid-19 like symptoms?
-Have you had a Covid-19 test for an active virus during the last 10 days?
-Within the past 14 days have you been asked to quarantine due to concerns about possible Covid-19 infection?
Race Packet
Arrive no earlier than 30 minutes prior to YOUR respective wave race start time. Individual emails will be sent with your start time. Each start time is broken up into waves of no more than 50 participants. Bib numbers with timing devices will be available for pick-up only on race day according to your assigned start time. This will allow a socially distanced process with marked queue lines and less wait time. Face coverings are required upon arrival to the race site/parking lot, packet pick-up areas and prior to crossing the start line. Your bib number corresponds to your race registration, no transferring of bibs is allowed. This is due to TSA restrictions. Government issued ID Required (Driver’s License, Passport, etc.).
Main registration located at 4640 NW 36th Street, Miami, FL, 33166. Limited parking is available near the hangar. Remote parking areas will have transportation shuttle provided to and from the hangar. FACE MASK must be worn at all times while on any transportation shuttle

FROM EAST:
Starting at Lejeune Road (NW 42 Street) head West on NW 36 Street to 4900 Blk (cross street)
Turn left onto NW 4900 Blk head south.
Turn left into parking lot and follow ‘Special Event Parking‘ signs
FROM WEST:
From 826 exit on to NW 36 Street head East to 4900 BLK
Turn right at 4900 BLK and head South follow ‘Special Event Parking‘ signs to event parking lot
Overflow parking 1 and parking 2 will have shuttle service to the hangar. Face coverings are mandatory while on shuttle.
No group gathering
Gathering and loitering in groups will not be allowed at the event. Direction for staff, volunteers and runners include specific details regarding arriving close to assigned time and leaving after you have competed in your race. We ask that you move out as quickly as possible so that we can continue with the race waves.
No spectators
Those not signed up for the race will only be allowed to wait for runners and watch from their vehicle in the parking lots. This is due to TSA security reasons.
Runner waves
Each runner is assigned a start time to limit the number of people in each wave on course. Runners are instructed to show up ready to run. You’ll check in and be directed to your run start time holding que, will be lead to the start line in groups / waves of 50 within your assigned start time, run the race, and leave the airplane hangar after you’re done. Results will be compiled and posted online as soon as possible.
Communication
All information necessary is included here on these participant instructions. We will also post on our event site online, and announcements will be repeated via our PA system in the check-in and start areas. The running community is a very respectful and cultured community. If you are uncomfortable with something you see or have any questions please don’t hesitate to tell a staff member on site.
Virtual option
A virtual race option will be available for those who are unable or choose not to participate in the in-person event. If you don’t feel comfortable, feel free to opt into this option at any time.
Mask Protocol
Face coverings to be worn at all times prior and post-race. No exceptions.
Start Line/Corral Procedures
Participants will be assigned start times to create running waves on course. Five lanes and ten rows per wave. Each start time will be set up for approx. 50 participants and broken up into 4/5 waves. Participant floor markers will be lined up allowing for approx. 6’ of physical distance between each runner. Each row will be guided to start every 5-10 seconds. Each wave is staggered by approximately 2-5 minutes. If you did not provide a pace time as per our email request you will be randomly assigned a start time. You are to wear your face covering in the holding areas. If you miss your start wave please see a staff member so that they can provide instructions.
Restrooms
Portable restrooms will be available in the holding areas. We ask that you line up adhering to social distancing guidelines of at least 6 feet apart.
Hygiene
Hand sanitizers will be available throughout the venue.
Course & Finish Line
Course will be marked with cones, mile markers and arrows. Please do not venture outside the marked areas. Security is tight and you will be apprehended if you should run outside of the designated course. The airport is active all nearby runways and taxiways will be operational. You will be running on Runway 08L/26R. Please stay to your right at all times to help with the physical distancing. The course is wide and open but we ask for runner courtesy to be adhered to.
Aid Station
There will be Miami-Dade County Fire Rescue personnel roving the course. We ask that you carry your own hydration, however, we will have an emergency water station near the midpoint with sealed bottles in case you should need to hydrate along the course.
Post Race
Participants will collect their finisher medals, race shirts, water bottle and light recovery nutrition after crossing the finish line. We ask that you keep moving throughout this chute to avoid any congestion of participants finishing. There will be no awards ceremony, age group awards will be mailed within 2 weeks.
Please be aware that the status of the Runway 5K is subject to change at any time. We realize that the COVID-19 pandemic is a dynamic situation, and we will continue to monitor all updates from the CDC and Florida Department of Health. If the status of the event changes, we will notify participants as soon as possible.

Your initial registration has been moved to the new date. NO need to re-register.
All CDC Guidelines will be followed. In addition, we will be implementing extensive new race industry safety standards which includes face coverings and various density reduction measures such as staggered starts. Race start line will be open for more than an hour to allow for maximal spacing on the course. Final race specific procedures and detailed safety instructions will be sent at least 10 days prior to race day. In the meantime, we encourage you to keep training and feel free to contact us for any questions you may have.
