Description
The Annual Wellington Ruck March and Food Drive is a family friendly three loop for 5K (or 1 loop + for 2K) Ruck March through Wellington’s Village Park. This event hosts ruck marchers of all fitness levels. Strollers are welcome too! Pets are not permitted within Village park. The Sunday, November 10, 2024 event starts at 9:00 am.
The 5K course is comprised of a family friendly three loop asphalt course for a total of 5,028 meters. The the 2K course is comprised of 1 lap of the SAME course plus a small extension detour added on for a total of 1,990 meters. As there will be concurrent events with varied levels of speed, any passing of slower participants should be completed on the adjacent LEFT grass areas to the asphalt path.
Based on registration numbers Ruckers may be assigned a designated wave start based on distance, gender and/or. Wave starts (if required) will be announced the week prior to the race. If race day registration is still available on race day, any unregistered participants will need to arrive early to insure they can be registered and placed in their appropriate wave prior to the start of the race.
Individual registration fee will be $28 per Rucker participant and each Rucker will carry a backpack with a minimum of 8 - 15 lbs. of non-perishable food (see Ruck Sack Weight Requirements Tab for more info) to be donated to the Village of Wellington's Annual Food Drive at the end of their event, where a medallion will be awarded. Additionally, local community members are encouraged to donate food items at the drive-by Annual Food Drive Station.
Local business and other groups will also be participating in 4 person TEAM ruck events where the combined individual participant times will be combined and ranked accordingly for awards. Each team rucker will carry a backpack with non-perishable food (see Ruck Sack Weight Requirements Tab for more info) to be donated to the Village of Wellington's Annual Food Drive.
The race events will be chip timed and tabulated as the participants cross under the designated Finish Arch, and winners will be announced before the closing celebration. When the participants check in at the registration area, they will be given a numbered race bib to be worn on the front, and the bibs will already have the timing chips already inserted. Individual times can be accessed by each participant number scanning a results QR code at the race site.
