About Promising Pathways

The Seamone family founded Promising Pathways in 2023 with a mission to break barriers to education and economic stability. Since then, we have awarded $9,500 in scholarships to five students in the U.S. and Uganda. Looking ahead, we are committed to expanding our scholarships, launching low-cost career coaching for individuals with disabilities and single parents, and supporting other impactful educational and career programs worldwide.

We started Promising Pathways to address poverty, inequality, disabilities, and the well-being of children and families. By helping students stay in school and earn their degrees, we empower them to build brighter futures for themselves and their loved ones. Research shows that earning postsecondary credentials leads to higher earnings, improved health and well-being, and positive benefits for dependent children as well. Furthermore, education also has a positive impact on society at large by reducing poverty rates and the need for public benefits, as well as increasing tax contributions and civic engagement.

About the Scholarships

Promising Pathways provides three life-changing scholarships to students:

  • Single Parent Scholarship – $2,000 for low-income single parents pursuing a technical program, two-year, or four-year college degree
  • Hard of Hearing Scholarship – $2,000 for low-income students who are hard of hearing and enrolled in a technical program, two-year, or four-year college degree
  • Uganda Nursing School Bwindi Scholarship – $1,500 to cover one year of tuition for a student at Uganda Nursing School Bwindi

How Our Scholarships Work

The Single Parent and Hard of Hearing Scholarships are hosted on Bold.org, a nonprofit platform that manages outreach, applications, and fund distribution to winners' schools. Our family takes an active role in reviewing applications and selecting recipients.

The Uganda Nursing School Bwindi Scholarship is offered through the Kellermann Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to reducing poverty and improving healthcare, education, and well-being for the indigenous Batwa people and the broader Bwindi community. Established in 2013, UNSB is the only advanced-level nursing school serving a rural region of one million people, where the nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 to 40,000 (compared to 1 to 350 in the U.S.). Scholarships not only transform the lives of nursing students and their families but also help strengthen the region’s healthcare system by training desperately needed medical professionals.
