Run with Greg

Wed November 1 - Sat November 11 Directions

In-Person Info

IN-PERSON RACE DETAILS!

Course Map 2023

We will start at the Trail at Wakefield Park in Annandale, VA.  Park at Audrey Moore Rec Center and walk to the soccer field behind the skate park.  You can leave your car here or get dropped off/carpool.

We will start at the bleachers and start on the Gerry Connolly Trail which loops us UP to run along Braddock Road for a short 1/10th mile; turning on Glen Park Road to run through Howrey Field Park which connects to the Long Branch Trail at Wakefield Chapel Road (run to trail behind the playground).  We will run past the school on Woodland Way (where the McSween kids and friends will be cheering us on!) then connect back to the Long Branch Trail for the last mile and end at Rutherford Park at 11:00am. This is a big parking lot as well.

This is a trail that Greg ran on often during his 2+ years in Virginia.

PACE & WALKERS:  Please anticipate starting at a time that gets you to the finish at 11am for the 3.1 miles.  Leanne and crew will be running at a 9:30 pace which means we will start at 10:30am.

With this being a shorter run than last year we will not have water/support stations so please bring your own water if you will need it.

POST-RACE DETAILS:

We will walk, drive or ride 1/2 mile back to Leanne's cul-de-sac for a "Finisher Toast" to Greg.  It's about a 15 minute walk up hill (you're welcome for ending before this!). We'll have beer that Greg would approve of, and his favorite subs from Jersey Mike's from 11:30-2pm.  Greg enjoyed many nights visiting with neighbors in our cul-de-sac.

LEANNE'S 11-11 BIRTHDAY BREWERY:

Join us for Leanne's 40th birthday on Saturday, November 11th at Farm Brewery (16015 John Marshall Hwy, Broad Run) at 11am when they open.  If weather is nice we'll start claiming a big space outside.  We suggest bringing camp chairs and blankets and please pay attention to their food rules on their website.  They never seem to care about snacks, especially for kids- but they won't allow coolers.  Their website also has details on their kitchen menu and their food truck details are TBD.  If the weather isn't ideal they have enough space inside.  We will probably be here for a few hours and kids are welcome!  They don't have a playground but they have plenty of space for kids to play. Here is the Farm Brewery Website.
