Run with Greg

Greg set out on November 9, 2021 to honor the Marines he lost by running the Marine Corps Marathon virtually.  This would have been Greg's third MCM in a row and his sixth overall but tragically Greg only made it to 12.74 miles.  Last year on November 10th- the Marine Corps Birthday- we finished Greg's marathon running the last 13.46 miles - ending at the Iwo Jima Memorial like Greg had done in past MCMs.  Now that we've finished the miles Greg set out for- we still want to honor Greg annually with a 5k.  Leanne will be running a 5k on the Marine Corps Birthday- November 10th.  For anyone who can't join but wants to honor Greg on their own- you can run or walk for Greg between November 1st and November 11th.  You can do a 5k or any distance, you can partner with a friend and split miles, you can do it over multiple days, you can walk it, bike it- whichever way is best for you.  If you have another workout in mind, a "WOD" (Workout Of the Day) and wish to honor Greg that way we only ask that you jot down with pencil on scrap paper or cardboard (as Greg used to do) to record your WOD.  Please post pictures, results, and stories afterwards.

For those who want to join Leanne on the 10th she will be running on the trails near her house in Annandale where Greg used to enjoy his runs.  We plan to finish by 11am and toast to Greg with his favorite beer and Jersey Mike's subs.  We will link a route a few weeks before.

Big or small- our hope is that with every year that passes- people will spend some time the same way Greg would to remember and honor the Marines he lost. Thank you for honoring our Greg in this special way!
