Series Scoring Rules / Awards
What is Series Scoring?
-
Series Scoring adds a fun, competitive twist to the Full Moon Trail Series by awarding points based on performance. These points help determine standings and season-end awards.
How it works:
-
Scoring: Participants earn points at each race based on their Age Grade Result.
-
Awards: The top 12 men and top 12 women with the highest points are recognized at the Awards Ceremony.
-
Who’s included? All participants are scored, whether registered for the full series or as an individual race entrant.
-
Bonus for Series Participants: Full Moon Trail Series participants receive an automatic 500-point bonus, boosting their leaderboard standing.
Why are runners being “scored”?
-
It’s all about having fun and encouraging friendly competition among participants!
What is Age Grading?
-
Age Grading levels the playing field by adjusting your performance based on age and gender. Think of it like a handicap in golf or bowling.
How it works:
-
Your result is compared to the world record for your age and gender.
-
Scores are expressed as percentages:100% = World record
-
90% = World class
-
80% = National class
-
70% = Regional class
-
60% = Local class
-
-
For example, a 70-year-old can compete on the same scale as a 10-year-old.
-
Please note: Trail Races are traditionally much slower than Road Races, and therefore the Age Grade percentage for each Trail runners result is not reflection on Road Racing ability.
Points per race:
-
Highest age-graded finisher: 300 points
-
Second highest: 299 points
-
Third highest: 298 points
-
Every participant earns points for finishing, even the last runner!

Trail Series Awards Ceremony
-
At the end of the series, the top 12 men and top 12 women with the most points are honored at the Awards Ceremony. Expect a wide range of ages among the winners!
Important Notes:
-
Scoring applies only to live events (no virtual submissions).
-
You don’t need to attend all four events to score points, but more races give you more opportunities to improve your standing.
-
Virtual participants and individual race registrants are not eligible for the Awards Ceremony.
-
Results will be posted after each race on FullMoonTrailSeries.Com
