Girls on the Run Empower Up Fitness Challenge

February 1 - March 31, 2021

Team FAQs

  1. Are teams allowed?
Absolutely! They are encouraged. It's a great way to experience the challenge, have fun, and further your contribution to Girls on the Run.
  2. How many people do I need on my team?
There is no minimum or maximum number of team members. Build your team as small or as large you want.
  3. Can I start my own team?
Yes. You can create your own team and call it whatever you'd like! All local Girls on the Run councils had teams and fundraising team pages created already. So, if you'd like to join your local council's official team, search within the existing team names before you start your own.
  4. When I create a new team, RunSignUp asks me to choose a team type. What is the difference between an aggregate and relay team?
Members of relay teams will collectively complete the goal distance (25, 50, 125 or 225 miles). The number of miles each person will complete is up to you and your team. As miles are logged, the total will update and show for the team. Members of aggregate teams will each complete the challenge distance (25, 50, 125 or 225 miles). As an example, for an aggregate team with 5 members and challenge distance of 225 miles, the total mileage goal for the team will be 1,125. Wow, that's a lot!
  5. Does our team need to fundraise?
When a team has been created, a team fundraising page will automatically be created with a default fundraising goal of $250. You are not required to fundraise but we encourage it and appreciate the additional support! It's incredible how easy it is to reach your goal if all team members share your team fundraiser link on social media and ask for a small donation from your friends and family. The team fundraising page makes it easy for them!
  6. Does every team member need to fundraise?
No. However, it’s incredibly easy to reach your goal if all team members share the team fundraiser link on social media and ask for a small donation from family and friends.
  7. What is the difference between a team and a fundraising team?
A team tracks your physical activity and aggregates the miles across all members logging their participation while fundraising teams are separate and track your fundraising progress. (Teams = Fitness, Fundraising Teams = Monetary Support).
  8. How do I fundraise as an individual?
Within the registration form, RunSignUp will ask if you want to become a fundraiser. You can set your goal and customize your page with your story, why you are fundraising, and photos.
  9. How do I make sure my individual fundraising is credited to my team and/or council?
Just make sure that on the registration form when it asks if you would like to become a fundraiser that you also either join a team fundraiser or create a team fundraiser (if one doesn't already exist for your team and/or council). All of this is on the same page in the registration form. For more information about team fundraising, please go HERE
  10. I’m part of a team, but how do I manage my fundraising page and see progress towards my individual fundraising goal?
Your individual efforts will be tracked back to your own fundraising page associated with the RunSignUp account you used when you registered and set up your fundraising page. Through your profile, you can manage your page and invite people in your circles to support you. You can also customize the URL for your page that you'll want to use when you email friends and family and share on social media. Your personal page will show your fundraising progress and list donors to your page (unless they chose to give anonymously). For helpful tutorials on fundraising, please go HERE.
  11. How will I know when I have earned incentive prizes?
When you reach an incentive level that awards an incentive prize, RunSignUp will email you automatically with details and list any actions you may need to take. All fundraising incentive prizes will be ordered after fundraising ends on March 31, 2021. Please allow 4-6 weeks following the end date to receive your items. We'll get them to you as quickly as possible!
