Gateway Virtual Track Series

Rules

The Gateway Virtual Track Series will consist of 4 consecutive meets, one taking place each week. Each meet will be follow the following format and rules listed below:

  • Events will consist of 100M, 200M, 400M, 800M, 1600M, and 3200M.
  • There will be no field events, no hurdles, and no relays.
  • Missouri athletes will be competing under their city and high school mascot. This will act as their Gateway Virtual Track Series team, with team scores being accumulated for each meet. 
  • Only current high school athletes are eligible to compete.
  • Athletes may enter up to a max of 3 events per meet. 
  • The competition periods will run Monday through Sunday, respectively, with all final results submissions being due by Sunday at 11:59 PM. 
  • If you miss the submission window, and submit late it will be assumed the performance is for the next week’s meet and will be counted for such. We will not make any changes once a time have been submitted.
  • To submit your results tag us on Twitter, @BigRiverRacing, with the hashtag #GatewayVirtualTrackSeries included. 
  • All results submissions must include a photo or video proof of the performance. Simply include these in the same post on Twitter with the performance results. Any results submission that does not include a photo or video validating the performance will not be included. 
  • It is required that the photos and videos are to be recorded by someone living under the same roof.
  • Per MSHSAA ruling, coaches are not allowed to be in contact with any athletes competing until school has been let out.
  • You are also required to include your distance, and virtual team in the Twitter post corresponding to your performance submission.
  • Be sure to check your privacy settings on Twitter, the setting 'Protect your Tweets' needs to be unchecked for us to see your post.
  • You are only allowed one performance submission per event per meet. One submission per event per meet during the allotted submission window, no exceptions.
  • We will follow all local, state, and government social distancing rules, along with those set forth by the CDC. When out running and competing please make sure to always keep at least 6 feet between you and all other people. 
  • Official meet results will be posted on Monday’s following the previous week of competition. Know that we will actively be working to get them up as quickly as possible.
  • All meets will score through 16 places with the following format: 
    20 - 18 - 16 - 14 - 12 - 11 - 10 - 9 - 8 - 7 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1
  • We expect all marks to be run on the track, however we understand that may be impossible in some areas due to track closures. If not running on a track, athletes must show verification of the correct distance and that their marks were recorded on flat courses. For events 800m and up, Garmin, Strava or other GPS recording data will be accepted. No times will be accepted run on downhill courses. All courses must maintain no less than a net zero elevation drop.
  • At no time are you permitted to break into any facility that is closed in order to complete the requirements listed above. We are not responsible for any fees, fines, or penalties that may be acquired. 
  • If a race is run on the roads, we will follow all USATF standards, that being the course is to have an elevation loss no greater than 3.25 meters/km.
  • Each meet is given a week's worth of time to safely complete the races in a safe manner by following all social distancing rules at all times.
  • Student-athletes outside the state of Missouri are welcome to compete in all meets with the exception of the Missouri Championships.
