Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What is the objective of this Virtual Challenge?

Get active, interact with new and old friends, and raise funds for a great cause! All proceeds will go towards the State of Oregon's Charitable Fund Drive, which supports the United Way.

  2. How long is this challenge?

This will be throughout the entire month of November, until 11:59 PM PST on November 30th.

  3. How long is registration?

Registration is live from October 22nd to November 9th.

  4. How many team members can I have?

Teams that will doing a hybrid of hiking, walking or running are allowed up to 8 individuals. Teams that are going to be bicycling will be allowed up to 10 individuals.

  5. How do I create a fundraising page?

Upon registration, if you are the Team Captain and are creating your team's and your own personal fundraising page, there will be a page that will come up allowing you to do so. It will ask you what your personal goal is, but it will also ask you to input your team's overall goal for the challenge. You can enter whichever number you and your team feel comfortable raising.

Upon registration, if you are the a team member and have chosen to join a team through registration, you will be asked to create your own personalized fundraising page that will link back to your team's overall goal. You can choose whichever number your Team Captain, or yourself, decide each individual must raise.

The funds you raise as a team, and individually within that team, are at your team's discretion. Please consult with one another to make sure all parties involved are aware of what they are raising collectively and individually.

Remember, each team member's individual fundraising page allows for those donations to go back to the team's overall goal!

  6. What is the fundraising goal?

We, the Race Directors, hope we can raise $10,000 from this challenge, but we are not issuing out a metric for all teams to follow. You decide as a team how much you would like to raise and you go from there. Even if you can't meet your goal, it's all in good fun and for a great cause. Any funds donated will help!

  7. How many miles per team are we supposed to complete?

Once again, this is a challenge to get us active throughout the month of November. While it is nice to have a little friendly competition, it is not the main objective of the challenge. With that being said:

Teams that are doing a hybrid of walking, running or hiking will be given the challenge to complete 455 miles (the equivalent distance of the PCT in Oregon).

Teams that are bicycling will be given the challenge to complete 2,650 miles (the equivalent distance of the entire PCT)

If a team does not meet either markers by the end of the month, that is completely fine! It's whichever team can meet the challenge or get their closest first that will win in those two distance categories.

  8. What can I use as a tutorial to help me manage my team's page and fundraising page?

RunSignUp has an amazing resources section that will allow team captains and team members to use the website more intuitively throughout the month. So if there are any questions or concerns, please click here.

  9. Do I have to live in the State of Oregon to participate?

No, you don't have to live in Oregon to participate.

  10. What is the age limit for those registering in the challenge?

We are requiring that everyone who register in the challenge to be 18 years or older.

  11. How can I join the FB Group Page?

There is a section on the main website that's titled FB Group Page. There is a "Click Here" link in the description that will take you directly to the FB Group Page.

  12. How do I track the miles I completed and upload it to RunSignUp to count towards my team's miles?

There is an app called, Strava, that you can use to track the miles you've completed. You can enter your miles manually, use any mile-tracking app like Strava or Garmin and send over a screenshot of the miles you completed that day to ransalvant@gmail.com, and it will be approved and show in the Results section of website. How often you input your miles is up to you!
