Clarksville Rotary Club
The Clarksville Rotary Club was founded in 1917 and this year celebrates its 100the anniversary. Our mission: to provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world with our motto "Service Above Self" guiding our way.
The Clarksville Rotary Club was responsible for the following projects (just to name a few):
- 1949-50 Bringing Little League Baseball to Clarksville, TN
- 1964-65 Purchased Rotary Park
- 1990-91 Started a $100,000 endowment fund at Austin Peay State University
- 1996-97 Rotary Interact Scholarship Program started.
- 2012-13 Construction of the $100,000 "Where Imagination Flows Playground" at Liberty Park
- 2015-16 Completion of an all-inclusive playground and splash pad located at Heritage Park.
OUR NEXT PROJECT:
Proceeds from Go Commando will help fund The Rotary Field of Dreams, a specially designed, multipurpose sports field and family playground designed to “meet the unique requirements of our county’s special needs athletes, families and support networks. The idea is to eliminate traditional barriers that discourage special needs children and adults from being able to use a traditional field. “Obstacles such as natural grass, uneven surfaces, constrained accessibility for those who are disabled, injured, or otherwise challenged will be overcome with the (Americans With Disabilities Act)-compliant poured rubber turf surfaces. There are currently 16 organized sports teams for special needs in Clarksville-Montgomery County. A new field is hoped to support expanding to 24 teams within two years. The goal is to also create conditions to host a Special Needs World Series in Montgomery County.
