Nobody here has run this race, because nobody has. Every volunteer gets a shirt, coffee, a named coordinator who tells you exactly what to do when you arrive, and free entry to next year's race. Pick a job, not a shift you'll dread. About thirty-five people run this morning.

• Tail Walker (2) – Walk at the very back of each distance and be the last person through the finish. The most important job on this list.
• First Timers Welcome (1) – Orange vest, sign, big smile, by the arch from 7:30. Find the nervous ones and tell them what happens.
• Course monitors (8) – One at every corner of the grid. Point, count, and don't let a car through. Bring a folding chair.
• Water stop, mile 1.6 (5) – Pour, hand out, cheer, sweep up. Loudest corner on the course. Bring cowbells.
• Parking marshals (4) – Vests, signs, directions. Parking is the thing first-year races get wrong.
• Packet pickup (4) – Wednesday afternoon and 6:45 race morning. Alphabetical boxes, no forms.
• Finish chute (4) – Keep it moving, hand out medals, don't let anyone stop in the chute.
• Satsuma table (3) – One crate open at a time. Most photographed job of the day.
• Wishbone Dash crew (3) – Line the kids up, hold the parents back, ribbon for everyone, nobody loses.
• Photographers (3) – Three positions: the finish arch, the caboose, the kids' start.
• Teardown (6) – 9:45 to 11:00. The permit says everything comes down immediately, and it does.
• Floaters (2) – Two people, a truck and a roll of duct tape. Every race needs them.
