Triple Tri FAQs
The minimum age to compete in the GFT Triple Tri Challenge is 16 years old.
No, you do not need to qualify. However, athletes should be capable of comfortably completing an Olympic-distance triathlon before registering. Please also note that this event includes several cut-off times (see below).
Timing will be managed with two chips: an active ankle chip and a passive chip attached to the back of your run bib. Splits will display your times for each segment (swim, bike, run), as well as total time for each triathlon. Time spent between races will be listed as “Race-to-Race Transition.” Final awards are based on total elapsed time, from the start of your first swim to the finish of your third run.
Yes. Failure to meet a cut-off time may result in your inability to continue in the race. The cut-offs are as follows:
- Triathlon #1 – 1:30:00 (total elapsed time: 1:30:00)
- Race-to-Race Transition #1 – 0:15:00 (total elapsed time: 1:45:00)
- Triathlon #2 – 1:40:00 (total elapsed time: 3:15:00)
- Race-to-Race Transition #2 – 0:20:00 (total elapsed time: 3:35:00)
- Triathlon #3 – 1:55:00 (total elapsed time: 5:30:00)
After finishing the run portion of a triathlon, you’ll re-enter the transition area where you can change clothing and swap gear for the next swim. All gear must be staged under your bike rack space, as in a traditional triathlon. A hydration and fueling station will also be available. Once ready, you’ll head back to the beach for your next swim start.
Yes. Your race bib must be worn during each run for identification and timing purposes. The bib includes a passive timing chip on the back. The easiest method is with an elastic race number belt, which you can slip on quickly during transitions. A commemorative belt will be included in your race packet.
Awards will be presented to:
- Top 3 Overall (male & female)
- Top Masters Finisher
- Top 3 in each age group (male & female)
Not in 2025. For this inaugural year, the focus will be solely on the Triple Triathlon. As part of the post-event review, organizers will evaluate the feasibility of offering additional formats in the future.
Training methods will vary based on your individual strengths and fitness level. We’ve compiled training tips on our website to help guide your preparation. In addition, local clubs such as the Clermont Tri Club and the Winter Garden Tri Club are hosting group sessions specifically designed for the Triple Tri Challenge.
